I wonder if they ultimately feel like they're deciding between firing the manager/staff, or doing a pretty significant overhaul of the roster. In that market with your fan base, I think it's going to be tough to just run it back with the same characters if this recently slide continues. And, if they feel like they have to do one or the other, I don't think Cashman has it in him to acknowledge the roster he's been putting together for years is the problem.
Yea idk how we even got here but the roster just isn't good and idk if there's a way out of most of it. C - Sanchez has actually gotten better defensively but just can't hit. He's HR or nothing. 1b - Voit has been a good player. Not sure why we're playing Rizzo over him, honestly. 2b - DJ is a good player having a bad year. SS - Gleyber forgetting how to hit is just puzzling. I can't recall a position player falling off in his mid-20s like this without an injury involved. 3b - Urshela and Andujar are whatever LF - Gallo hasn't adjusted well after the trade CF - We don't have one RF - Judge is a good player DH - Really streaky but good overall. Needs to be playing the field. That's just not a good lineup. Some of it is variance and some of it is just weird but overall it's just not good.
DJ LeMahieu's wRC+ this year is one point higher than his career average. he just played out of his mind for like 200 games to start his Yankees tenure.
Think it’s fair to say the rangers won that Gallo trade. I will take no further questions or comments. I welcome him back after he gets out of that hell hole next year
I'm really interested in what they do with Gleyber. I don't know what his trade value could be given his last 150 games. And even his 2019 season was built around hitting half his HR against an all-time bad Baltimore team. If they keep him, where does he play? Everyone talks about how he can't play SS, but he was just as bad at 2B in 2019, too. Almost have to try him at 3B and hope he can do it.
AVG .250 OBP .338 SLG .446 wRC+ 115 .250 BABIP 15% K rate, 9.2% BB rate- Rizzo with the Yankees AVG .254 OBP .333 SLG .440 wRC+ 114 .342 BABIP 31% K rate, 7.9% BB rate- Luke Voit
From 2016-2020, he had a 117 wRC+. He was the 2nd most valuable 2b over that 5 year stretch. He's at 101 and 15th 2b this year.
fun with arbitrary end points is a great game, great job grabbing 2016. from 2011 (his debut) to 2018 he had a 90 wRC+ and was the 16th most valuable 2B. he got super hot for about 200 games, turns out that might not always stick around. he's a fine player, having a fine year. it will likely be his 4th best of the 11 he has had in MLB.
Ahh yes including a player's first 2 years when they clearly become a better player later in their career just to arbitrarily bring down their numbers to fit an argument is always solid. A 5 year stretch is plenty time to show he became a very good MLB player from 2016-2020. I don't care about 2011.
Agree. Not saying there's a huge gap between them, but Voit has been hitting well the last 6 weeks but they are getting Gardner ab's instead of him and that's dumb.
I mean, are you really going to pretend like you didn't include 2016 in there because it was a season he just so happened to have a wRC+ that was 36 points higher than any other season he had in Colorado (where he spent 7 years)?
two of the years of that 5 year stretch he was a below average hitter, and worse than this year. One of those seasons was only 60 games. I just don't get the classification of "good player having a bad year" when it's likely his 4th best hitting season of the 11 years he's been in MLB.
Over a 5 year stretch, he was the 2nd most valuable 2b in baseball. Slice that up and deal with it how you want but I think its is enough to call him a very good player.
I mean, if you needed a year to prove managers don’t matter this is it. Kapler is managing baseball’s best club.
White Sox doing this weird thing where every starter has gone on the 10 day injured list this month and going to a 6 man rotation to get everyone fresh for the playoffs talk about a team that just hasn’t given a f for months now and are on cruise control real curious if this plan works for TLR
