i think the dim politics required to give a shit about a local politician attending the charity event for a world famous museum are embarrassing its an aesthetic complaint, it's complaining about "elites" in the shallowest sense possible
the "socialist means anprim" stuff is so so toxic as well as objectively wrong and seeing lefties cave to its frame is sad
Apparently the theme is In America: A Lexicon of Fashion, which... idk wtf that meant so I googled it: This year’s Met gala is all about fashion made in the U.S.A. “I’ve been really impressed by American designers’ responses to the social and political climate, particularly around issues of body inclusivity and gender fluidity, and I’m just finding their work very, very self-reflective,” Andrew Bolton, the Wendy Yu Curator in charge of the Costume Institute, told Vogue. “I really do believe that American fashion is undergoing a renaissance. I think young designers in particular are at the vanguard of discussions about diversity and inclusion, as well as sustainability and transparency, much more so than their European counterparts, maybe with the exception of the English designers.” Maybe the dress is thematically appropriate as such?
That's a bad look... Really you going to the Met gala with that dress.... of all places. Just wear a regular dress imo
I could give a shit if she goes to parties with rich people I just don't see why she wore that particular dress. With that said it doesn't make me think any less of her and I still like her a ton. Just think the dress was a misstep that's all.
You guys are wimps, is there a more baller move than going into the lions den and then telling the lion to fuck off?
I don’t really get the criticism, it’s an event to be seen, and she chose that opportunity to spread an important message it’s also difficult to get “every billionaire is a policy failure” on a dress compared to “tax the rich”
Keep in mind like 1 page ago Joe Manchin is like “children deserve to be poor sucks to suck” Not his child of course
People are obviously sick of his shit, especially after all the shit about him and his daughter have been leaked to the media. I still say Sinema is the bigger issue tho
This is where I’m at. This has been her message day and people have ignored her. I’ve seen more talk about this dress and going to the Met so whatever gets your message out.
Ohio passed a voter referendum on redistricting that creates a commission to try to blunt the hyper partisan gerrymandering of current districts. There are an elaborate set of rules requiring certain percentages of minority party support for a 10 year plan to pass, but if no one can get along, the Republicans can pass a 4 year plan on party lines. The Republicans opened this week with a plan designed to make Ohio even more partisan, The plan received uniform F grades from every independent group who has reviewed it.
It's insane to think that 49% of voters would want to keep him in office but then someone else get in by 25% of the vote
Met Gala attendees who dress up look like three year-old's playing dress up with their parents clothes and makeup.
The ppl in here saying it was tone deaf of AOC probably have this in perspective based on their posting history. But for ppl online actually pretending this is a big deal, they must be miserable. And that’s something from me, because I feel quite miserable.
Whole outcry is stupid either way. It wasn't exactly some marketing genius either as if tax the rich wasn't something people already know about/think about. Not like it's some unheard of philosophy that just needed some exposure.
Need a follow up tweet with something like, "If Manchin or Sinema give me any pushback, rest assured I'll beat the ever living fuck out of them until they piss blood."
I bet there are more Trump voters at the Met Gala than anyone would like to admit. Art museums are a tax haven for the ultrawealthy.
