We've had many threads before but they're all archived at this point.

Ran through August and Everything After randomly yesterday. That record continues to age incredibly well.

I never got Oasis. Seemed like their brother drama fueled their popularity as much as anything, and their biggest song is a guitar player’s punchline.

Revisit. I wasn't on them in the 90s either but reflecting now it's just exquisite. I'm hooked on the song "Supersonic" right now. The chord progression, the guitar tone, the anthem chorus. First two records are just full of gems.

Both were good , I just think the Blue Album was better.

Hurting Oasis is probably the fact that (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? followed a year later and was a better album.

I listened to Morning Glory and Live Forever in their entirety last night and I have the latter ahead. Morning Glory does have the timeless singles Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger, Champagne Supernova. But I think the songs on Live Forever have an even more classic quality. It occupies this weird space between good old 60s/70s rock and roll and what was to come in the 90s. The songs feel like they just fell out of the sky.

Shiggityshwo you can bring the indie flavor if you want. I was listening to major labels back in the 90s but I know some about the good indie bands. Pavement, Built to Spill, Dinosaur Jr, Modest Mouse, Neutral Milk Hotel etc

I can buy Blue or Pinkerton as the best. Pinkerton is more sophisticated and complex musically, and more direct and heartfelt lyrically, but Blue is just so pure. Again, the songs feel like they always existed somewhere instead of being composed

we're the same in that regard tbh, not exactly indie but Blind Melon's two albums are the most underrated imo, their self-titled would be up there as a contender for my favorite from that era

Might be a hot take, but I think it's pretty easily Sparkle and Fade. Album is just so fucking good, and while Santa Monica is the hit, Summerland -> Strawberry -> Heartspark Dollarsign is as good a trio of songs as any.

Underrated record and I wonder if it would've been more successful at the time if they picked better singles. Heroin Girl as a lead single? Come on.
