They put out an album this year, it's bad. Start up the track "Let The Bad Times Roll" and see how long you can last before skipping

Might not be a popular opinion, but STP’s best album IMO:

I saw STP in like 08/09 and Weiland looked awful then but still sounded great.

I can't imagine their thing working that well once they're into their 50s and 60s. Unfortunately every band eventually gets to where they just aren't as good anymore.

Also I don't think it's a hot take to say Alice in Chains > Nirvana.

I don't have a problem with Nirvana but much prefer AIC

I can listen to AIC's Unplugged start to finish and not skip a single track.

The only Nirvana Unplugged track I listen to with any sort of regularity is "The Man Who Sold The World"

    **clears throat**

Attention Corch , an anonymous poster had the following to say:

“AIC Unplugged is good, but it's a pretty straight reading of their material. "Sludge Factory" is a standout, but a lot of those songs were half acoustic to begin with so it's not as dramatic of a transformation. Don't get me started on "Nutshell" unplugged being better than the original -- the original with the electric guitar solo SHITS on it.

Versus Nirvana Unplugged, you have this awesome mix of their well-known songs, not well-known songs, and covers from David Bowie to the Meat Puppets to Leadbelly. Plus Kurt died a couple weeks after and the stage was set like a funeral. The music and the mystique cannot be topped”

The Nirvana setlist is just so much juicier. AIC is like hey, here's our songs that were already half acoustic. Nirvana is like hey, here's a mix of our obscure shit, well known shit, plus we're gonna cover Leadbelly and David Bowie. It adds more value over the normal band experience IMO

Had the day off from work yesterday revisited this album, their self titled ‘92 album, The Golden Age, and the single “Whole Lotta Trouble” from the Empire Records soundtrack for the first time in probably ten years. They all hold up well. Their single “Low” was the quintessential alternative rock song of the 1990s and has been my opinion for 20 years.

One of, if not the most, under appreciated bands of the 90s. I don’t think many people realize how many TTWS songs are favorites of theirs until they go through a playlist of of TTWS.

I was about to say man, this band had this song AND the Friends theme song but I had my 90s R bands mixed up.

The Refreshments = King of the Hill theme song
The Rembrandts = Friends theme song
    The Replacements = highly-regarded 80s band

Were they? They had great singles that all got copious airplay. Then the rest of the album was blah.

I actually saw them at a bar last year before COVID. They warm up with a couple songs, then they go "We will now perform the album New Miserable Experience" in its entirety.

Redav show me the underrated track that wasn't on the radio

To me, Primus is the most underrated and underappreciated band of the 90s. Everybody is aware of them, but they're never mentioned among the titans of the era. I think they're every bit as important as any band not named Nirvana. Some absolute fucking BANGERS in the 90s.

Frizzle Fry, Sailing the Seas of Cheese, Pork Soda, Tales from the Punchbowl, the Brown Album (without Tim Alexander), and Anti Pop (w/o Tim), just in the 90s. Fuuuuuck.
