Stopped at a buc-ees on my first road trip with the M3. Never been to one but I was surprised at how expansive it all was. I didn’t hate it. Had a Dunkin in there so I picked up some doughnuts while I waited, hit the bathroom, got some drinks, etc. I ended up shopping for food and stuff almost every time I was charging, so it seems like a good model to make it the place to charge up.

I got there and couldn't figure out how to get in the car. I knew they said it was a touchless experience. After 2 mins of feeling like an idiot in the heat, I walked into Tesla.

I have an appointment for tint on Tuesday. Going to do:
    70% on windshield
5% on the front windows and then they said they were going to do something like 55% on the back windows to make it match the front. The back already looks really dark from this angle.

I also have my WeatherTech mats at home waiting to be installed.

Has anyone added the screen protector or anything else that I should look into?

in fairness, they should've given you the card to unlock it on the pillar as well

2 must adds IMO are the console organizers

    arm rest one
    https://www.rpmtesla.com/collection...-alcantara-armrest-storage-for-59-with-20-off

    center front console
    https://shop.teslarati.com/collecti...ucts/tesla-model-3-y-center-console-organizer

I haven't done a screen protecter yet bc it hasn't bothered me, but this one seems the easiest to install

there's a matte and glossy version

I did the screen protector and it's been nice because it's much easier to clean imo than the regular screen.

I haven't done the tint yet, or the ceramic coating or PFF or whatever it is that a lot of people do. I'm still debating all that since it sounds like the paint on the Tesla's chips pretty easily? :idk:

I got the arm rest protector, which looks great and I think is worth having given how rough my arm rests tend to look over time. I got the console organizer (very nice). I also got the cup silicone cupholder insert which has been nice as well.

I hadn't bought the all weather floor mats until recently. I had a guy run a red light and almost destroy me, and I ended up spilling a latte all over the fucking car in the process. Took a while to get the stains out of the carpet, and I'm still working on getting the smell out. Pissed me off, but it would have been a lot easier with the floor mats installed.

They start at 77k with 406 mile range. Have to step up to the 140k package for the 520 range.

400 is still good, so my second question...efficiency of the batter or size?

They've said it's efficiency based but I'm not enough of an expert to challenge it.

"Crucially, this landmark has been achieved by Lucid's world-leading in-house EV technology, not by simply installing an oversize battery pack,” said Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO of Lucid Group.

Cool. We're going to see exponential growth in batteries and charging rates. Hopefully prices continue to fall so they can be more accessible to people who don't have a lot of money.

I love the technology of EV cars, but I absolutely hate cars in general and especially spending money on them. I was rocking a 15 year old Ford Focus when I finally caved into my wife and bought a new lexus for her in 2015. She's again try to get me/us to spend money on another car. I think I can probably wait until next year, but on the fence if I should go EV and spend more or just get another ICE. For a Tesla it's probably 20k difference.

the article says "113 kWh battery pack" so at 520 miles EPA estimate that is 4.6mi/kwh

the model 3 LR battery pack is 82kwh and EPA estimate is 353 miles which is 4.3mi/kwh (I think the most efficient tesla)

the model S plaid battery pack is 100kwh and EPA estimate is 396 miles which is 3.96mi/kwh (although this isnt supposed to be the most efficient tesla)

I dont think there is data out on the newest LR Model S to compare that

edit: looks like that 113kwh battery pack is the Air and not the "air dream edition" but im not sure 3miles is gonna be a big difference

the used market for EVs show they really hold their value so the depreciation aspect, while still there, is not as drastic as ICE vehicles (outside of these current weird times where used cars are going crazy)

The rebate adds another element to it - been looking at 2018 Leafs (2nd generation, a fair number coming off of leases), and they're going for $17-19k, and they were $31-33k new, but with the rebate they were actually only around $25k new. Older Leafs are pretty cheap I think because buyers are worried about having to replace expensive batteries after Nissan's battery warranty runs out

I'm done with ICE vehicles. My family's future cars will all be electric. It just doesn't seem prudent to continue to purchase ICE vehicles if we can afford to do otherwise.

So, we took delivery of our 2021 Model 3 SR+ with the LFP battery.

First thing I noticed was how much better built it is compared to our 2020. Less creaks and rattles. Double paned glass makes it sound better. Charging to 80% on our 2020 meant we’d sometime have to charge in the middle of the day if we were running around.

It’s also nice to be able to charge to 100% every night. Wife’s commute is 70 miles round trip so it’s nice knowing we can get around easily without needing to charge.

Supposedly this battery pack can take several thousand more charges than the NCA battery pack.

My wife had to drive 210 miles on Wednesday, so we had her Tesla Y fully charged and ready to go. The car said she had to stop half way to charge for 11 minutes. She did that and then had to stop again to charge otherwise she wouldn't have made it to the destination. This is on a Y Long Range. She didn't get anywhere close to the 320 miles they claim. She was going 90 most of the way, and I know that's part of it, but it took her 100 miles less than it says.

Weather can be big too. If it was hot the speed would compound the issue of the battery getting warm and using energy to manage the temps. And AC a little. Mostly that the faster you go the more energy you use.

I guess. But pretty much all reviews of the Mach-E are glowing about the car actually hitting its range, and that's bc Tesla kind of conditioned the way range is displayed.

so imo that is a better experience than what Husker's wife experienced

It’s part of their hook. For the same price pint most people are going to gravitate to the cars that get better range. At that point they’ve removed a lot of the competition from consideration.

Need to buy the wife an electric truck or SUV. I never drive but will occasionally use it so it can't be anything comically feminine.

Has anyone pre-ordered the F-150 lightening? Talked to a dealership and they were very non-committal on timeline which was a bit disconcerting.
