Im guessing the typical person goes to work at 8 and has a 20-30 commute therefore they assume most people have time to workout in the mornings. I leave for work at 4a. Before this, I loved waking up an immediately starting the day off with a sweat and calorie deficient. Really set the tone for the rest of the day especially when it came to nutrition.
How difficult is it to move a Peloton Tread? We're supposed to have one delivered this weekend, but our workout room is currently under construction and would need the Tread in another room until it's completed. Would I be better off just finishing the Workout Room and then having the Tread delivered?
The couple of times I’d ride before actually going into the office, I’d be so damn sweaty even after a cold shower then put on khakis or whatever for work and be dying. It’d take my whole drive to finally cool off because I never left enough time between riding and getting ready for work lol
Getting back into the routine of riding, and I had some slight front of the knee pain - what are everyone's positioning? I'm 6-3, and I think I ride on 20.5 seat height and D.5 on seat depth, which is about my hip bone high. What else could be the cause?
I'm 5'11" and I sit at 23 seat height and D on depth. I have no idea if that is correct, but I did it one time and it felt fine so I just keep using that.
I can’t remember the number but I found that raising my seat like 1.5-2 numbers above wherever the tutorial told me ended up being pretty good. I still seem to have issues with my seat sometimes lowering as I ride (especially the PZ classes with no out of saddle) so it also gives me a little buffer.
IIRC there was an intro video that gives suggestions on how to set up the bike for your height. It has been ~4 years since I've set mine so maybe there is something better but I remember seat height should be the same height as your hip bone. Seat length should be the length between your elbow and fingertips. I'm 6'0" and I ride at 25.5 and the middle of 'E' and 'F'
I can only speak for the Tread+ but that thing is heavy as shit. It could be moved, but it would not be easy. Do not know about the regular tread.
I think you’re sitting way too low. Did you go to your hip while wearing your shoes? I’m 6’1 and I think I’m at 26, and that doesn’t give me full extension when out of the saddle.
Yeah, you're way too low. Just search "Christine D'Ercole Bike Fit" and you'll find a good fit tutorial.
Yeah Im there too. The cool down ride and stretching helps, but Id still need at least 15-20 minutes before I showered or Id still be sweating putting on clothes.
I'm no fit expert, but my seat is at 33 and I'm 6'6". With a 3" difference in our height, I would've thought our seat heights would be much closer than 12.5 apart. My legs aren't particularly long for my height, either, I have no problem buying pants off the rack at non-big/tall stores. My Peloton is four years old almost, so I'm not sure if the seat height measurements are identical on our respective bikes. I did have front knee pain for some time, but it was quite awhile ago. Felt like Tendonitis, and I believe it went away when I lowered from 34 to 33 (overextending my knee under load at 34) and I lowered my workload, which was around 100 miles/week then. For seat front/back distance, I believe I recall instructors saying heart over the knee is raised on one side. Hope I'm not remembering that wrong - my seat isn't far back at all.
I rode at lunch today - first off I was 3" too close - went from D.5 to G.5; My outseam is 42" and my inseam is about 31"; I've done the hip trick and I went up to 21 and It felt good. I'm gonna ride a week at this setting to see how I feel and then may tinker again after that. I've got a slight bend at the knee at 21 so I'll keep an eye on this as I don't want to overextend the leg on the downstroke. ETA: My seat is definitely also too low - gonna bring the seat into F and heighten the seat. Thanks everyone for the input.
Saturday and Sunday early morning rides are the shit. Get a good sweat in and then just sit and watch football the rest of the day.
I still watch game day so Saturday is easy for me Sunday a little more difficult but I’ll do it if I don’t drink too much on Saturday.
Weekend mornings I wake up with more pep due to sports and no work. I rarely successfully get up early for a weekday ride. Gonna try tomorrow though
x2 on the weekend morning rides. Get up, sweat for 45 minutes to an hour, then drink, eat and watch football guilt free.
It is difficult to get into a rhythm but once you do you'll regret not riding in the morning. I have definitely noticed that I am in a better mood on days that I ride vs. days I sleep in.
Last few Emma rides. Bonk. Last few Olivia classes: Bonk. Today’s Kendall climb ride : Bonk. that’s three strikes guys I just got life.
That Emma groove ride was nip city. Interesting the new peloton gear seems to create this with most instructors. Smart.
it is like magic did her arms and intervals ride from yesterday and was like damn she got them thangs they ain’t bee stings
Hannah’s 45 minute 90s rock was a good one. Her classes have been growing on me, really solid mix of climbs and resistance pushes.
did this ride this morning I like it a lot. My output sucked because I tried to watch gameday while riding. Now it’s football booze and hopefully later on a dead animal on an open flame like the good lord intended.
Did a beginner ride and didn't think it was enough so I added an intermediate after. Quickly regretted that
Had my first audible “fuck that” this morning. Emma’s 90s ride from Monday. Minute intervals at 80-90 cadence at 70 resistance with about 10 mins to go in a 45 min ride. I did not keep up.
Anyone have a iPhone holder they like? I think I’m going to start doing more power zone classes using home fitness buddy and my own music / podcasts / tv and want to be able to easily see the target zone
Any advice on an adjustment? When I push down my leg seems to be extended OK with just enough bend, but when I come back up it seems like my knees are always cramped and sometimes it makes it so I have to bow them out a little bit. Just not sure what else to mess with for this.
in close to 4 years and over 2000 rides I’ve taken exactly 1 ride without a shout out and that’s because Robin had just gotten back from maternity leave.
I get it's the business model but it's so frustrating to hear about PuggleMomm1972's 700th ride when music/silence/encouragement would be so much better
I would pay extra per month to have an option where the instructor just calls out cadence and resistance and shuts the fuck up the remainder of the time.
Lol shout-outs are literally less than 20 seconds of a 30 minute ride, a little annoying but I've never been like THIS IS AWFUL and I actually kind of like the communal aspect of hearing about other people doing it
