I get the OL isn't executing, but does anyone think we've been kinda shitty with the run play calling. We have talented backs. Seems like the plays should be simpler at times. I formation, get him going downhill. Seems like we get discombobulated at the snap. We also get behind the chains. Where's run 1st down, get 4 yards, run 2nd down, get 4 more. TC wants to see Kevin Harris on some basic run plays
I don't think you get any more basic than our run game it's been like 70% inside zone, and it's been very predictable with run, run on 1st/2nd down. That's why it isn't working until the second half when we've beaten up smaller and less talented DLs in EIU and ECU.
I drink while I watch the games so sometimes my feelings don't match up 1:1 with the action as transpired
We keep trying to run behind our guards and they objectively are not good. They look especially bad when you have to play against a DT like Davis at uga. I could be wrong, but it feels like we have had more success running off tackle. Unrelated, but Im also mad we don’t have the “snap the ball with a receiver in motion and flip it forward to him” play that seemingly every other college team runs once a game.
Why was Muse a non factor against UGA? Also, are we a little more impressed with Dak now? He’s shown some toughness on some catches he’s made the last couple weeks. Glad to see him find the field finally
We haven’t really targeted the TEs at all since EIU. Which is odd considering I thought we’d be leaning on Muse a lot early in the season. I still am hoping to see Bell get more touches as well.
Seemed like UGA decided to really take away the middle of the field and TEs because Muse caught a ton of balls against them last year and they didn’t want any QB to get comfortable with easy throws to the TE. Nothing against Vann, he had a great game but they left the corners one on one a lot and that led to the big throws down field. They play a 2 deep with the safeties and those passes probably aren’t there.
The good thing for us is that Zeb and Doty have shown the past two weeks that they can make some shot throws where if you do that too much we'll go PA on first down and take the shot. Vann has made some plays (and missed some) and Brooks finally made one against Georgia. If those two can do that more consistently then we'll get a little more favorable boxes to run into and open up some of the intermediate passing game for the tight ends we haven't seen much of.
Pretty manageable schedule for Beam Team in year 2, though that trip to Ark is tricky out of the gate
Was thinking the same thing, although I’d prefer to go in October. I’m too old for hot ass September football games.
In class today: "Blah blah blah, over at the NORTHERN frat lots..." Me: oh are there two frat lots? Is one north of the other? "No, like, the lot where the frats from the north congregate."
100% mutual there Bob. Nobody wanted you here from the faculty to the students who protested outside the alumni center during the BoT vote
Ray should have had a clause in his contract where if he screwed up finding his replacement for baseball, he would get sent back down to the minors.
Teams like Troy aren’t as shitty as they once were thanks to increased transfers from power five schools. We suck and I know you know that so no need to be uppity
I wonder how many times Shane's dumbass is going to fuck us by not kicking easy FG's before he'll learn his lesson.
If I get to be football dictator, any player who does that shit before crossing the plane of the endzone is banned…from everything they enjoy.
I haven't been so worried about fumbles every play since back in the days of Mike Davis (The one that wasn't good enough for the NFL)
