Every time I read one of these concern trolling pieces about not being mean to psychos, I just assume these are people born into conservative families and don’t want to admit they are just stupid as fuck. Liz Bruenig, someone whose writing I usually like, does this shit all the time.
I had to unfollow her because of her indignant tone. These people chose to die for the most part. They werent stranded when a hurricane hit. An earthquake didn’t swallow their home without warning. They saw an F5 tornado coming right at them and they walked toward it.
“My family doesn’t believe in any of the real crazy stuff” yea, actually they do, they just don’t bring it up in front of you.
I DECIDED TO RETHINK MY STANCE! NOT THAT I SHOULD BE VACCINATED, BUT THAT EVERYONE, NOT JUST MY DUMBASS FRIENDS WHO AGREE WITH ME, SHOULD HEAR ME CRY LIKE A STUPID BITCH ON TIKTOK
https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMRgvejg6/ Definitely don’t worry about actual humans drying, but dogs… Her TikTok posts are
And how did she fair with independents? She actually came in behind Biden (44%) and Kelly (45%), though not by much. Sinema was at 40%. When Arizona Democratic primary voters (who can be Dems or independents) were given the options of “I would vote to reelect Kyrsten Sinema” or “I would vote for a different candidate who would get rid of the filibuster” the numbers were basically catastrophic. Sinema got 22% and the unnamed filibuster-buster got 66%. Of Sinema, Biden, Kelly and the Republican Governor Doug Doucey she’s the least popular. When I talk to people who’ve known Sinema for a long time they talk about her ambition and mutability (not rare in politicians) but also her rigidity. There’s no deftness or nuance. It really seems like she got the idea she’s the next John McCain and that Arizona wants another independent maverick and that playing to DC “moderate” worship is her ticket to power and possibly a future presidential run. But it turns out she’s just too rigid and clumsy to pull it off and she appears to be on course to a one term career in the Senate as a result. It’s ironic. The one good thing about a someone who’s power hungry and lacking all conviction is that you can rely on them to operate in their own self-interest. She’s pretty clearly miscalibrated. Her actual political self-interest involves a significant though not total repositioning. If only Democrats could convince her on that everyone could be happy.
In case you guys were wondering, we don’t actually have to give a pos like her clicks by posting them here.
When that bullshit was posted I mentioned most of these guys went thru Anthrax vax. It's pretty brutal. And for military men to be make so much drama over the covid vax (my cousin) it's kinda pathetic.
I love the irony of Tucker and Hannity spewing their anti vaccine shit while fully vaccinated is wonderful.
Our retired Army hustler to be couldn’t have done his interview in studio because Fox wouldn’t let him in as he isn’t vaccinated. Being proudly unvaccinated is pretty fucking stupid. But actively seeking praise for your antisocial behavior is all a bit much.
Occasionally you feel bad for some of these people. If I think back to when I was in my early to mid 20s, I could have very easily believed some of the bs that is circulating about covid/vaccine. Like a lot of things, I think it comes down to how one responds when finally faced with the irrefutable truth. This kid realized he made a huge mistake and spent his last moments trying to make sure other people knew the truth. I guess for me, that allows him to be HCA adjacent as opposed to in the building.
It's honestly tragic, especially with having a little kid at home. But I'm glad major news networks are covering something like that.
Exactly! These are the stories that need to be shown. Along with stories with all the bodies piling up.
In my 20s I might not have been vaccinated. Not because of ideological reasons but because I was irresponsible and lazy.
Did you have a child though? A lot of the irresponsibility of youth leaves you when you're responsible for another life. That should be enough to push you to go do it but for conspiracy theories (which he referenced).
I hate doing the well as a parent thing but honestly I can't imagine what some of these people are thinking that have small children at home. We've talked about it in other threads but I seriously can't get into the head of a person that doesn't do the risk/reward with kids that depend on you at home. If there's one thing in this world a parent has to do it's do right by their children. That starts with being alive to raise them. It's so incredibly stupid and selfish.
You can also be like my coworker's son who was unvaccinated and he and his wife both now have it and they gave it to their newborn
Every time I try to figure out why people aren't getting the vaccine there is really only one answer. It's not that it was rushed, it's not that they "don't have enough info", it's not even the conspiracies. It's their identity. Straight up it's just who they are and in no world will they get the lib/Gates/China vaccine. They are not independent thinkers. FUCKING TRUMP has been telling them to get it at rallys and it doesn't matter. I'm happy if those stories of regret change 1 persons mind but I really doubt very many at all are swayed by them. I posted a story a week or two ago about a 29 year old my wife knows died from covid and his in laws still wouldn't commit to getting the vaccine. If someone that close to you dies and it doesn't change a mind, some random story online or TV isn't going to either.
Yeah you've got to chip away at it. It doesn't help that there's strong communal support for not being vaccinated. If there are fewer in the support group it gets harder for the holdouts
My wife’s coworker remains in the icu with Covid and not only does her husband — who sports the major scientific chops of being an a/c repair guy — still refuse to get the vaccine, but he also will not give consent to put her on the ventilator because he knows the ventilators are only there for the hospital to make more money and it will make his wife sicker.
LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME I DIDNT GET THE VACCINE AND ITS BECAUSE THE VACCINE IS EVIL OR WHATEVER Also look at me can we not talk about who’s vaccinated and who’s not like before the pandemic
Unfortunately for most it will take them dying to leave the community. I've seen the anti vaxxers who get covid and don't have severe symptoms dig in harder, get louder. "I HAD IT AND IT'S NOT THAT BAD. NOW I HAVE IMMUNITY TOO. FUCK YOUR JAB!" My aunt thought she had permanent immunity from getting it last March. She just got it again.
My wife’s friend, who has an artificial heart valve because of a congenital heart problem, refused to get vaccinated because it was too new and experimental. She caught Covid, got pretty sick, and rushed out to get the totally not developed at roughly the same time and pace monoclonal antibodies without hesitation.
It’s an older video of her complaining about people telling their medical stories (getting vaxxxed). She was brought into the thread bc she was more recently whining about being refused care for not getting vaccinated.
For the schadenfreude crowd, I have to agree it's hard to feel bad for this guy. He's got raunchier memes than usual if any of you need some meme variety. I was pretty amazed a woman was willing to identify as his girlfriend. I'm also incredulous some of these pictures of patients get shared, but maybe it convinces people who see them to vax up.
wait, so is that dude HIV +? and he still didn't get vaccinated? I mean, I'm not shocked, but this dude shouldn't have survived this long. or is that a meme he's posting?
