Totally forgot I’m in a wedding this weekend. Someone is going to spoil the game for me and I’m going to be pissed.
Ive got one next week. Thankfully it’s an away game. I went to get measured for the tux the Friday before Purdue and the guy said there were 26 wedding that weekend.
Jalen Brown is visiting this weekend and it will be his second visit to campus so his interest is legit (I believe he visited over the summer as well) We may need to start using first names when talking about Bowen - There is a Drayk Bowen and a Peyton Bowen so I was really confused reading some of the posts. Most people think Drayk will commit around USC. Malik Muhammed is also supposed to visit for the Cincy/USC/NC games as well. It's obviously over if he does but I wouldn't be surprised if he commits this weekend.
Man Cincy is an old team, every damn starter is like a RS SR, RS JR, or Graduate This is their super bowl
I think Kelly & Freeman's history with Cincy is going to bail us out honestly. If this was against an equivalent G5 team like UCF or Boise or whatever, we'd be way behind the 8 ball from a motivation standpoint but there's at least some weight to this game on the ND side with it being Cincy. Them being favored is a gift too. None of that intangible crap is going to make our dumpy OL figure out how to block unfortunately.
This '23 class is gonna give Head Coach Marcus Freeman and Special Advisor to the Athletic Department Brian Kelly their first 'ship in 2026
Between getting written off after two weeks, being the underdog, this being the only game we won't be favored the rest of the season (if we win this week), Freeman/Kelly's history at Cinci, getting blown out against Alabama last year and people thinking that spot should have went to Cinci, etc. etc. - we can joke around about this being Cinci's super bowl, but this is easily the biggest game we'll play all year too unless we sneak into the Semi's
Kelly mentioned in his address for breaking the record that he’s just getting started. I think there’s some honesty in that. It hasn’t dawned on him that if you don’t win a National Title here, you’re not considered great. And the 2022 and 2023 classes can get him there. If you asked me before Bama last year, I would’ve said he only had a couple years left. But I’ve heard that loss has only made his desire to finally win one that much stronger. We’ll see.
I heard that too and I believe him as well and after hearing the players on the podcast say how well oiled of a machine Kelly has going he’s got to be pretty excited about the future here
It's crazy that he fell to the 2nd round, no doubt he's a 1st round talent. Browns got a complete steal
Everything about Moore’s high school coach’s quotes in the most recent BGI interview screamed “yeah ND is in the running, but clearly not in the lead for Moore”.
Loy recruiting article Spoiler The Irish Illustrated subscribers posted a bunch of questions on the Four Horsemen Lounge regarding Notre Dame football recruiting. The topics surrounded the latest with prospects from the 2022 and 2023 classes, big picture recruiting and much more. Here are the answers to the majority of your questions. SLIDE1 of 13 ON ANY SILENT COMMITMENTS AT THIS TIME As of today, there aren’t any silent commitments. There are multiple guys that have strongly indicated Notre Dame is the team to beat, but there aren’t any that have gone all-in with their behind-the-scenes commitment to the Fighting Irish staff and head coach Brian Kelly. SLIDE2 of 13 ON IF IT’S MORE LIKELY NOTRE DAME ENDS WITH 5 OL OR 4 WR THIS CLASS Notre Dame has three receivers committed in 2022 and three offensive linemen as well. While this question is definitely a tough one to predict, especially with the uncertainty surrounding WR commit Amorion Walker, I’m leaning toward five offensive linemen. I say that because I believe there is a bigger need, especially with what the staff landed at receiver in 2021 and where they stand with top guys in 2023. To be honest, if Notre Dame just landed CJ Williams and Tobias Merriweather this cycle, that would be fine because of how good both are. Losing Walker to Michigan would be a blow, because I see him as one of the most underrated pass-catchers this cycle. A nice counter to that would be the addition of Major Everhart, who is very electric on the offensive side of the ball. SLIDE3 of 13 ON THE COMMIT THAT IS MOST LIKELY TO SEE THE FIELD THE EARLIEST NEXT YEAR There are definitely a couple of names that come to mind. As an edge-rusher, I love the ability of Jaylen Sneed to come in and push for early playing time. Tobias Merriweather is a tremendous talent at receiver and he should make noise right away. No question a guy like Aiden Gobaira can step in and push for time as a freshman at defensive end. I’ll go with Devin Moore though. A guy that can play cornerback and safety, the Notre Dame staff is extremely high on him and believes he has early-impact abilities at the next level. SLIDE4 of 13 ON THE FIVE-STAR RECRUIT NOTRE DAME HAS THE BEST SHOT WITH IN THE CLASS OF 2023 Since five-star linebacker Drayk Bowen was listed as "off the table" for this answer, I think there are a few names that could be listed. Notre Dame could land five-star linebacker / safety Sonny Styles and it wouldn’t shock me at all. I expect him to pick the Irish or Ohio State in the end. Notre Dame is also a major contender for five-star offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor. I expect him to land at Notre Dame or Iowa come decision day. The Irish are a definite dark horse for five-star defensive end Samuel M’Pemba, as he has been high on Notre Dame for a while. Obviously the Irish are contenders for a couple of five-star quarterbacks as well in Dante Moore and Nicholaus Iamaleava. Lastly, don’t sleep on Notre Dame for five-star receiver Jalen Brown out of Miami. The Irish are trending in the right direction here. SLIDE5 of 13 ON SOME EARLY NAMES TO KNOW FROM THE CLASS OF 2024 Notre Dame should be a contender for Missouri receiver Ryan Wingo, the No. 6 player in the country, California quarterback Julian Sayin, the No. 14 prospect in the country, California safety Peyton Woodyard, the No. 20 player in the land, Arizona defensive end Elijah Rushing, the No. 21 talent in the class, Indiana safety / receiver Brauntae Johnson, the No. 34 prospect nationally, but that’s just naming a few Top100 guys. SLIDE6 of 13 ON A POTENTIAL CRYSTAL BALL PICK FOR XAVIER NWANKPA, THE NO. 1 SAFETY IN AMERICA Notre Dame is a definite contender to land the elite talent. I’ve had them in the Top 2 for him for a long time. However, it seems as though things are changing regarding the leaders. Most sources I spoke with had Notre Dame and Ohio State as the teams to beat for a long time, but now they believe Notre Dame and Iowa are the top contenders, with Ohio State running in third. That said, I don’t think any prediction for Nwankpa makes sense yet because I don’t believe he is close to making up his mind. I am told Nwankpa is still developing already-strong relationships with all three coaching staffs and will make up his mind after return trips to all three schools. Let’s be honest, Notre Dame, Iowa and even Ohio State all have reasons for optimism right now. It’s going to be a fun recruitment to watch down the stretch. SLIDE7 of 13 ON, IN MY OPINION, A FEW “MUST-GETS” IN THE 2023 CLASS Four-star receiver Carnell Tate falls into this category. He’s a special talent and right in Notre Dame’s backyard. I know he’s at IMG Academy in Florida, but he’s from Chicago and the Irish need to land the top talent from that area. Ohio State is the biggest threat to Notre Dame at this point and likely remains the case until he makes a decision. Another clear must-get is Dallas (Texas) South Oak Cliff four-star cornerback Malik Muhammad, who would be the highest-rated addition at the position in years. Notre Dame has put itself in great shape for months and needs to close the deal in the coming month or two. Sticking on defense, another must-get is Denton (Texas) Guyer four-star safety Peyton Bowen, who is among the top players at his position nationally. He’s a big-time prospect and one that could play early in South Bend if he picks the Irish. He is really good and Notre Dame is in great shape right now. SLIDE8 of 13 ON MY BEST GUESS AT THE NEXT ADDITION TO THE 2023 CLASS A couple names come to mind, but I’m keeping a close eye on Dallas (Texas) South Oak Cliff four-star cornerback Malik Muhammad. He is visiting this weekend for the game vs. Cincinnati and might return for the USC game and then again for the North Carolina matchup. If he makes all three trips, good luck beating the Fighting Irish. SLIDE9 of 13 ON THE BIGGEST NEED OUTSIDE OF QUARTERBACK IN THE 2023 CLASS Just looking at the current roster and the play of the team this year, it seems that Notre Dame needs to continue adding top offensive linemen and playmakers at receiver. The Fighting Irish need depth and competition at both positions and I expect them to add a lot of that this cycle, as well as in the 2023 class. SLIDE10 of 13 ON THE BIGGEST SLEEPER ON NOTRE DAME’S 2022 COMMIT LIST I’ve talked about this before, but to reiterate, I think WR Amorion Walker, TE Eli Raridon and CB Devin Moore, despite being three-star recruits per the 247Sports Composite Rankings, are all clear four-star prospects in my opinion. I think Moore is a Top100 recruit nationally and I have Raridon in the Top150. Walker is a no-brainer Top247 in my opinion. For what it’s worth, I like him more at receiver than cornerback, but the fact that he can play both at a high level is what has him even more intriguing. SLIDE11 of 13 ON FIVE CLASS OF 2023 RECRUITS THAT I COULD SEE NOTRE DAME LANDING Notre Dame’s 2023 class if off to a great start, but there are some great options still out there. I was asked for five names, but where’s the fun in that? Let’s throw out 10 early names that Notre Dame is definitely in the top group for. Five-star receiver Jalen Brown, four-star receiver Carnell Tate, four-star cornerback Malik Muhammad, four-star cornerback Christian Gray, five-star linebacker / safety Sonny Styles, four-star safety Peyton Bowen, five-star linebacker Drayk Bowen, four-star cornerback Justyn Rhett, five-star offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor and five-star quarterback Nicholaus Iamaleava. SLIDE12 of 13 ON A GUY THAT I THOUGHT WOULD BE GREAT AT NOTRE DAME, BUT HE DIDN’T PAN OUT I pride myself on knowing the quarterback position more than any spot on the field. I have had a lot of hits at the position, including underrated guys that eventually played at a much higher level than they were ranked. That said, I was wrong on Brandon Wimbush. Coming out of high school, I thought he was one of the nation’s premier passers and someone that would be outstanding at Notre Dame. However, things just didn’t work out. I think the lights were just a little too bright and it just didn’t come together for him. All that said, his future is extremely bright off the field and he has great things coming in life. He’s one of the most impressive young men I’ve ever had the pleasure of getting to know in this profession. SLIDE13 of 13 ON NOTRE DAME’S CHANCES WITH FIVE-STAR QUARTERBACK DANTE MOORE 19COMMENTS In talking to people close to him, the names that constantly come up include Notre Dame, Michigan, Penn State, Ohio State and LSU. There is some recent buzz that has him landing with the Wolverines, but based on their talks with him, the Fighting Irish feel confident that they are either No. 1 or 2 at this point in his pecking order. He has plenty of time left before making a decision and will see a lot of schools before eventually shutting it down, but ND seems very much in play because of his connection with Tommy Rees. like Detroit said earlier, Loy thinks ND has a better shot with Nico than Dante
Doubt it. Season tix will be available in the spring. If they do it like Chicago we’ll get the option to buy these, then they’ll go on sale to gen pop.
NBC and all their networks are leaving YoutubeTV so my only option to watch ND at home is Peacock or over an antenna.
Antennas are dope. Just got a new one for the tailgate tv and it works great. People in Chicago were mystified that I was watching tv without internet connection. Also, I'm real old.
Antenna is by far the best way to watch, if the signal works well enough. But that’s a major bummer if they can’t work out a deal
I can pull everything but 57 with rabbit ears up here so SB proper should be fine. I do suggest some amplification though now that USBs on tvs can power stuff.
Depending on when you purchased Peacock, you might still have access for the Cinci game Who knows how long this will drag out, though
I have Peacock but am considering canceling and buying an antenna because this is beyond stupid. Some intern in the office of general counsel likely came up with this ingenious plan.
House had every room wired for direct tv when we bought it. I mounted an outdoor antenna on the dish base and we added a few streaming services. Couldn't be happier.
Yeah where met antenna sits, I can get everything but 57 as well. Sucks for ABC games, but for nd games on nbc, the antenna works great. We’re moving in a month though so I’ll need to figure out where to put the antenna to get the best reception
