The first time you play it and the decision to either spare or harvest the little sisters is something that really asks of you. When something asks you to test your own morality via a difficulty setting I think that you just have to consider that game design has most certainly broadened its horizons. It’s crazy to think that a game design aspect was asking YOU as a human being what you we’re capable of. That is fucking brilliant. Solid number two after that moment of clarity
I mean, Irrational basically used you as the player and the decisions you would make as a de facto mechanic in the game. I can’t even get over how fucking cool that is.
But if you are struggling with the game it has to be tempting. At the time it wasn’t a super easy game either.
Never harvested one. At least on purpose. I feel like in one of my playthroughs I hit the wrong button once and was mortified. which to also add it’s one of the very very few story games I played more than once.
If I could choose any game to get a remake it would be Bioshock. Don't change a thing, just update it to the new Unreal Engine. I bet it would be fucking gorgeous. Those environments just oozed atmosphere.
GOW is an extremely good game but I don’t remember it setting any new gameplay trends (maybe the QTEs back in PS2 days?) rather than being a very polished iteration of them. Bioshock was unlike anything else, from what I remember. I remember my roommate had surround sound and the part where you walk into a room and the lights turn off and all the addicts scurry around scared the living shit out of me.
it's just so fucking good. I've beaten it once on PC, have been streaming it this week on PS5 and its so incredibly playable. Seems to be well-received on stream so I'm going to use it as my main game for a while I think, see how deep into it I can go. Not sure I'm good enough to take it to 3/4/5 cells level
I've been meaning to ask, how did you join Crowe Fam, and has it made a big difference for you? And do you think the Discord makes a difference, worth the effort, etc?
Streaming more Dead Cells in 20 minutes! Finally made it past the Concierge boss, coming up on Boss #2 soon. Link in my bio, get in me!
Time for more Dead Cells. Not going to stress about going too deep into a run today, looking to try some challenge rooms, and farm some equipment. Let's do this.
it does look great, I might have to break down and get it. I've only played FC3 and only for a bit, I want to go back to that but this might be the one I start with honestly.
Some games might have had a slightly better narrative Some might have slightly better combat Some might even be on par with the music But nothing comes close to it having basically 9.99 out of 10 in every single facet of its entirety.
Id say Bioshock is absolutely toe to toe if not better in some areas. We can debate which game is better and thats fun but as far as 'nothing comes close' well then I disagree.
Live now!!! More Dead Cells, more dying, more cursing when I lose my second chance mutation, but hopefully I get the Spider Rune today. Come through and watch, link in my bio, thanks fam!
The combat in BioShock is fairly lacking. The aiming was pretty bad. It's still easily one of my favorite games ever and I would say close to perfect. But if I wanted to knock it for something it would be the combat.
Maybe it's me but I just don't prefer first person games typically. So that said I'd agree I like GoW combat (the whole series) more. But for FPS I thought Bioshock was awesome how it balanced the weapons with the powers. And the feeling of combining powers like throwing bees into a tornado was the damn best.
I still have not had a gaming experience like I did with Half Life and Half Life 2. It was groundbreaking, creepy af a lot of the time. One of those games that would be sweating while playing.
Half Life 2 doesn't seem to get mentioned much anymore but it was every bit the experience BioShock was. Just an incredible game.
Tried god of war, just couldn’t get into it. Finally gave up trying to do one of those games where you have to hit 3 targets throwing your axe in a short time period.
I hope the new Bioshock, whenever it comes out, is worth the wait. Also, wasn't Ken Levine supposed to be making another game. Did that ever happen?
He has a small studio that’s basically the core of the old irrational studio. They’ve been working on a game for a decade now that’s been said to have influences like borderlands and dark souls but they haven’t shown it or even named it. Ken Levine is in an odd spot for a game director. His imagination requires a big wallet to realize it’s potential but his style doesn’t resonate with everyone. Bioshock Infinite actually took a financial loss and led to the closing of irrational. Gamers are bad people
He's trying to do something completely new. It's said that he doesn't want any scripted sequences at all. Everyone has a unique experience, etc. So we shall see what he comes up with. One of the best minds in the business.
we were offered a review code at Superjump but I didn't have any takers to use it, looks cool though. Have you tried it?
Finally jumped into Warzone last night, it's been years since I played CoD and all the shit on the menu is overwhelming, I have no idea what is going on. That said, I enjoyed the BR mode, I unknowingly joined a trio match and cut my parachute too high, and plunged to an ignominious death. Changed over to solo, got a few kills, actually very enjoyable and just got to Level 4 so I could do loadouts. Probably going to stream it later this evening, come watch the noob get pwned (am I doing this right?)
My performance was embarrassing last night on Warzone so I'm doing something a little more self-friendly and jumping into Far Cry 3, first FC game I've played. Going live now, Twitch link in my bio, thanks fam!
Smacking around some fools in Dead Cells, right now! Come for the inevitable run-killing mistakes, stay for my wit and charm
