were supposed to get an inch or two of rain every day this week I suggest investing in some galoshes and not wearing anything you want to keep
I trust Austin weather predictions about as much as I trust farts the morning after eating crawfish. Still may check amazon for some footwear that's good for wet weather and can throw away on Sunday
soooooo dumb question.... where the fuck are all of these homeless people going to go? Don't remember seeing anything about building any homes for them
the city has bought a few hotels around town to try and use them as housing, but other than that it just seems like the move to the closest wooded area
Austin's Skid Row huh... idea reminds me of that Netflix doc from this summer about the chick that died in the water tank in LA
landing in Austin on Saturday 10/22 and thinking of hitting up the F1 Qualifying race at COTA before heading east towards Roundtop Saturday evening. How big a cluster will it be? Worth the effort of going? I've really enjoyed the F1 series on Netflix and have been following races casually ever since.
Forgot about F1 altogether. Shouldn't be much of a "cluster" as far as getting to and from there since COTA is 15 minutes outside of the city. I've never been to the F1 stuff so I can't speak for clusterness at the actual race track. And if you're at COTA then you're already a east of any kind of traffic and stuff so should be easy to get out
Yea aside from the hotels restaurants/bars being busy, there shouldn't be traffic save for around the track itself.
Rain % for this weekend already gone from mid-high 80s% to 50-60% friday and saturday and nothing on Sunday. Also was supposed to rain "every day this week" and has been great the past 2 days since that initial storm on Tuesday night. Yall watch this weather isn't gonna do shit this weekend and will show up early next week and just give Zilker the hard reset it needs between ACL weekends Spoiler our crew has Zoltan poncho gang ready to go just in case tomorrow
no idea where this shirt came from but I found it in my closet and it’s comfortable so if you see it give a Hooty Hoo
Yesterday was great. They put out a bunch of mulch (which smelled like shit in a few areas but not terrible). Few places that were still muddy but easily avoidable Gonna be cool and beautiful the rest of the weekend. Why in the fuck was there not more of an announcement that the special guest at the Titos tent last night was Zhu that kinda pissed me off.
It seems like they just made one announcement on social media. I’m sure service wasn’t great down there.
I remember being at the Lady Bird stage and hearing some funky beats and actually checked my phone and saw it on the schedule in the app, but between weed and booze I was temporarily struck with a touch of the downs and it just didn't register that Zhu was.... Zhu. He was great at COTA 2 years ago and kinda pissed I missed that. George Strait sucks. More of a standing white people singalong than McCartney or Mumford x 10000. "His" best song he played last night was Pancho and Lefty and it's impossible not to hear Willie's voice when listening to that song
This. Dude was fucking hilarious. Pretty much rejuvenated our entire crew from being hungover zombies to back in go mode for Lane 8. He was easily a top 5 show at the festival Spoiler Salmon
I didn't think the crowds were bad at all. Once they opened up the stage across the street a few years ago that solved the crowds issue in general IMO. There's spots where stage crowds overlap that can get a little shitty especially at night, ie- that area inbetween Titos, T-Mobile and Ladybird stages is the one area that was a bit of a shit show to navigate from 6-9pm. what was your "sleeper" act that wasn't a big name and was much better than expected? I'd probably say Surfaces on Saturday. Was our first show of the day and really set the tone for a fun as shit day/night.
it was 125 degrees inside that fuckin tent. I've never sweat so much in my life. could feel sweat beads trickling down all over the entire time. still danced like my lower body could still handle it, which was a lie but yea seriously fun show to end the festival for me
Anyone see Billie? I see all the comments about how people couldn't hear her and that it was the sound system. I saw her at ACL in 2019 and no one could hear her. She just whispers. I don't think it's the sound system.
we saw the last 2 songs on our way towards the exit after Rufus. Also saw her in 2019. People saying it was the sound system are dumb. She does just whisper and if you're going to blame anything besides her style of music then I guess blame the sound GUY for not knowing how to work a mixing board
It was the perfect substance to take for Rufus. We started right before Alice in Wonderland. She was meh though even with recreational assistance. Her intro was pretty fire but we left after the 3 meh songs that followed
Anybody want tickets or know anybody that wants some for the USMNT/Jamaica game? I have 4 I can’t use. Selling well under face ($150/each) trying not to eat the whole $600.
Would prefer this as well so the house I'm closing on in 18 days (Tiermo neighborhood off 130) appreciates like a MFer over the next 5-7 years. Already appraised at ~60K over the list price from May / 25K over the purchase price. Feel like if it doesn't end up being the forever home then maybe I can make enough off selling it in that 5-7 year time frame to have the cash to put down on a ridiculously overpriced home in central austin or maybe on the lake side of the city. Also would help to find a wifey that so I got time to work on that
I get drip emails about home value projections in the Austin area, based on my search that began in 2017/2018 before I ultimately moved away, and the zips I was following consistently show ~11% growth 12 months from now, and I've started to see +16% recently for zips like 78704, 78731, 78756.
