World needs a win over Rublev from the guy who just lost to a shit juniors player to avoid a 0-3 deficit. Not great!
McEnroe: “Zverev said that’s the last point we’re going to win.” Opelka: “Well he also said he’s innocent…” Yoooooooo.
I feel like this is one of the first tourneys I remember in San Diego. But Qualifying finals going on right now. 23 year August Holmgrem, Danish player at University of San Diego, was an alternate to the qualifying and hes up a break in the 1st. Ranked 900+ in the world. Crowd is all Holmgrem, pretty cool
Kid lost in a 3rd set Tiebreaker. 3+ hour match. He was down 2-6, double minibreak and came back to get it even just couldn't finish it
Got my run in, coffee, hitting some emails and blessed with some Paire/Davidovich drop shot king action. Happy monday.
Tomorrows schedule is FANTASTIC. The way the tournaments are set up and located it, its tennis literally all day. San Diego night match finishing right in the WTA in Kazakstahn
Taylor Townsend is excellent as an analyst calling matches. Just gave a good breakdown on Korda changing his serve stance from where it was earlier in the year.
And this might sound awful SC but Im not sure if they showed TT on TV. During the week before the US Open when she was on TC, she said her goal was to get back on tour next spring. Shes got a lot of that pregnancy weight to lose to get back out there
They didn't. She's always played at a bigger weight though I imagine it's less problematic for her, depending on what she sees as a realistic level for her tennis. Got plenty of time too, Miami's not until the end of March and I'm sure she'll try and play qualies there.
Is the Chicago tourney litterally right downtown? I was watching pegula earlier and a train was zooming past right next to the court lol
Love both Ons and Rybakina, but kind of hope Rybakina wins this. Garbine-Elena would be some fun power tennis.
Ruud/Grigor fantastic to watch so far Ruud just went between the legs on the baseline and won the point
Not much sympathy for Sabalenka, I'm afraid. Some of these very, very good tennis players are very, very dumb people.
I’d like to understand how a German (?) court has any idea about the veracity of domestic abuse allegations reported by a 3rd party that they haven’t talked to.
