Look at all the auto traffic, only a MENSA member could figure out how to get around those pesky pedal pushers!
Of course. But I don’t believe that was the case for you. I think you’re an utter scofflaw who put that peloton at risk to earn message board cred.
Looks an awful lot like a picture taken from the left of a rear view mirror mount. Are you renting a car in Europe by chance?
[ That bike lane looks hella narrow. They are in the slow lane. There is a whole lane for cars to drive on. There is literally nothing to be upset about.
if it was a single lane and they were riding in a way that didn’t allow traffic to pass, he might have had a point. But, here it seems like wanting to complain to complain. Unfortunately, many itt will agree with him because they hate cyclists.
lol she did that to avoid the window frame thing being in the picture. I was driving, she leaned left. I'd tell you if I took it.
I don't hate cyclists. I just don't like people that do what they want and don't give a damn if others are inconvenienced.
It's 4 or 5 foot wide, different widths in different areas. Plenty of room for someone to ride. Not when there's a pack and they want to talk to each other, but plenty for one person to ride. Most do when they aren't in packs like this. These guys just do what they want and don't give a fuck.
didn’t say you did but those that will agree with you do. That picture doesn’t show any thing that would inconvenience anyone. There is literally no traffic. they aren’t hindering traffic.
Not a huge deal at all but I did have to slow down, let a car pass me, and move into the left lane. Not mad at having to make a lane change, it's more the attitude of "fuck you I'm doing what I want" that I don't like. I just can't fathom having that mentality about anything. It's like going 65 in the left lane on an interstate. Just a dick move.
so to you them not riding single file in the narrow bike lane is have that mentality? You’d have a point imo if they were impeding traffic but they aren’t. You just don’t want to share the road with cyclists.
When cars have to move over to avoid them, that's literally impeding traffic. I get it, you bike too so you'll make excuses for them so this is pointless. I'll always slow down and move over to give them room but I'll still think they’re dicks.
yeah we aren’t going to agree. I see things through the eyes of a cyclist. I don’t see what they’re doing as a big deal. It’s like a car going slow and me getting in another lane to pass him.
the reality about that situation is it's drastically more safe for everyone to ride like that. both for them and the people running Saturday morning errands from their planned community imagine passing that entire group with 24" between your vehicle and them. just psychopath stuff. take the option off the table for the .1% who wouldn't switch lanes even if they were all neatly tucked in the "bike lane"
And as I have repeatedly said, they are not doing it to be dicks, they are doing it for their safety. And you will never know from experience or never take any one else's word for it. There are minimum standards for cycling lanes and although your neighborhood may meet them in some places, it absolutely does no in others. So every single time a cyclist has to remove himself from an unsafe space in the “cycling lane,” that puts everyone around him at risk. So continue with your head in the sand. To everyone around you, your disregard for everyone’s safety at the cost of your “convenience” actually makes you the dick.
I think in general this thread can be summed up thusly: dblplay1212 is a huge dick with little dick energy.
I’d rather dbl just take the picture than have a whole ass person leaning over into the driver’s side and block the entire driver side of the windshield while approaching a pack of people on bikes.
Drivers in general don't like cyclists. Instead of stopping to to think, "Hmm maybe I am the dick?", you blame everyone else and refuse to understand why. And then you say everyone else is the one with their head in the sand. That's just an amazing level of don't give a fuck.
The default should always be that if someone is getting inconvenienced, it’s the person driving the car.
Bike lanes exist as a convenience and safety measure for cyclists. They don't exist as a convenience for cars. The existence of a bike lane doesn't require cyclists to use it.
