Talamore is a great round these days & if you can get Dormie, do it! Southern Pines was just completely redone & might be worth it.
I play every day in the summer and get to be decent. Then school starts back and I don't play nearly as much.. Gets pretty ugly. I also had a second kid in July. So the golf game definitely needs some work.
I’ve played 25-30 round in Pinehurst the last 5 years. IMO, Mid Pines, Pine Needles, Talamore is the top tier line up. Mid South is a great alternate in that group. Dormie is great as a course but I find it lacking character and feeling like a slog. Tobacco Road if you want an adventure. Make sure to hit the Cradle. Obviously - non Numbered Courses. I have only played 4 and it destroyed me.
The post round drink on the patio as people come down 18 and random people are all just chatting about their rounds. chefs kiss.
Chased a little distance this summer. I lost some distance over the years trying to be more accurate and decided to get it back. Did the super speed training and followed the fit for golf guy on Instagram to do a little bit of golf specific training. 7 iron numbers from July to now.
That's an incredible improvement. Did you follow Fit For Golf's advice for what to do with the speed sticks? I have had speed sticks in my trunk for a year and haven't used them.
He likes superspeed but he has another set he prefers because it's a fewer swings (I think) and has an app to track the progress. He also says their recommended radar is more accurate but it really doesn't matter because you just need any numbers to compare to make sure you are swinging hard. He sells a subscription bases service thats like $8 a month but I just put together my own workout from what he's posts on IG. I think I may purchase it when I move in a month and get settled in.
The other system is the Stack System, which was designed by Sasho McKenzie. I already have speed sticks, but if I were buying a speed training device now it would definitely be the stack system. Through Fit for Golf and super speed, I’ve taken my driver from 102 cruising speed to 108, and I’ve hit 118 during a workout before, although swinging that hard on the actual golf course is too inconsistent because the misses are really bad.
If you don't, youve gotta have it to do the system properly. It's the only way to tell if you are truly maxing out each swing.
Yep, super speed used to sell a package with a radar, but now I think the prgr is their recommendation. I also have a SkyTrak which is really good at measuring ball speed but uses a formula to convert it to swing speed as a comparison. here’s the one I have: Sports Sensors, Inc Swing Speed Radar Blue here’s the prgr: PRGR Black Pocket Launch Monitor HS-130A (New 2021 Model)
Jigga or anyone else with arccos. Have you had issues with sensors dying after only a few months? I’ve had to request like 5 or 6 replacements already and have only had it for six months. They send free replacements for two years, but it’s pretty annoying that it keeps happening.
I have the sport sensors one mal630 but I feel like it purchased it for much cheaper I've used it with the mevo and the numbers are always within 2mph so I don't have an issue with it.
Dallas trip is off. Couldn’t get anyone to go(again) but ended up finding flights to Denver for 134 so my dad and I are gonna go out for a couple days. I did however just upgrade my putter game though.
I don’t know that I can answer that quite affirmatively enough. It’s expensive sure but… - It has some issues with Skytrak specifically but it’s miles better than WGT from a simulated playing experience - Pretty much every course on the planet has been made. You can even recreate your own home tracks in a few hours easily enough using public LIDAR data - There are always people available to play online with - In addition to the last point, there are competitive leagues going on all the time. Tour stops are played weekly plus other tours. I’m in a 2 man league right now. And starting their big qualification process for the annual sim Ryder Cup series they do annually
I guess I just don’t play wgt enough to wanna pony up for tgc in its place. Can you play multiplayer from home? That’s a big downside to wgt to me that I can’t have a friend over and play, it’s only online multiplayer. Do you use an ipad? I should look into it obviously.
I wouldn’t play as much either if I only had WGT, tbf. Yeah you can play multiplayer locally. Just had a friend over earlier this week for some night golf. It is PC only. I picked up a relatively cheap gaming laptop and it runs great. Use a projector as well for a more immersive experience
Big fan of the design. Unfortunately, the one I had looked closed at address and I don't like the feel of inserts. If JT's version was mass produced I'd game it
Give me suggestions for fairway wood replacement hybrids. I’ve had a 3h Mavrik for a couple months and i hit it like absolute shit. Looking for a consistent 225 out of it. Ping g425 has my eye at the moment as it comes in a 17 degree (yes I will go hit them)
They don't. It is a great putter and hope you make everything. I'd be curious to know if yours looks closed
That’s with the slight forward press I like. I just have the putt out and mat. My ping I was maybe 1/10 on perfect putts and with the x5 it’s more like 1/5-6
