It looked like a fumble but honestly the 2 cameras with intern camera operators didn't really show an angle of it good enough for review.
Keene looks like he could be good but I can't tell. Clutch 4th down though and ECU was dumb not bringing pressure. Just a massive fuck up there. I don't think he looks any worse than our recent QBs in their first few games anyway I guess.
Kicking on 4th and 6 when it was 16-10 was absolutely the correct call, I didn’t even think that was debatable.
I'm more pissed about that than the offensive calls. We literally took a TO to call that play. Inexcusable.
We looked like shit on offense and defense all game. I had no faith that we would be able to stop them from running out the clock and even if we did I had no faith we were going to be able to get back to the red zone. We won so I guess fuck me, but that was a pussy call
Well we looked a whole lot worse on offense than defense, so I was inclined to take the points and make sure they couldn't ice the game with a FG.
I don’t know, I think defense had some fool’s gold tonight. It looked good at times but I think it had as much to do with our defense as it did with their offense getting in their own way. If we had went for it there and didn’t make a TD or 1st down and ended up losing, no one would be saying we should have just kicked it there im not going to make it into a thing though because we won and what’s the point in nit picking it in a win
Speaking of the defense, is it a Gus hallmark to play so much zone or does he just not trust our secondary to get beat in man that much? I could have sworn we were still dropping to deep thirds when they were in the redzone a couple times
I dunno. The offense was so bad and I can't even blame coaches for just how bad players looked. Bad drops, poor blocking. Keene missed a couple. WRs can't block for shit. I don't think I'd even care about that decision. Defense looked ok. Just whenever DL busted a play...our secondary gave it right back. But for the most part they looked ok enough.
That was a rough game to attend. There was a group of ECU fans next to me in the Cabana that were trying to start fight with UCF fans at the end of the game once it was obvious the tide was turning and they might lose. One of them wouldn't shut up about how he "played football for ECU" and how everyone else needed to shut up because they didn't play college football like he did. Seems like a recent grad, or maybe he's still in school and just quit the team. Kept talking about how he could have played another year if he really pushed for it, but he just felt like he'd rather get drunk and watch the game than actually play in it. I'm guessing dude was just a scout team guy. Then there was another Aziz Ansari looking mf'er who I think might be at med school at UCF but is an ECU grad. He was just being a dick to any UCF fan who would even look at him. All in all, interesting group. Glad we won. That was fucking ugly. I think the defense actually deserves a lot of credit for holding them to 16 points when those guys have been scoring like 41 points per game. Keene could maybe be good, but he needs better WRs. He also is not a good deep ball guy with his accuracy. He missed a couple deep plays that Dillon definitely makes.
WRs are soft, they can’t block consistently, they run their routes and just stop and watch, and they take plays off. As a former HS scout team receiver, it’s maddening
deep ball is just reps with your WRs, that will come. The accuracy is concerning but I’m willing to chalk it up to him being a true freshman in his second start. At least for now
We can’t move the ball consistently on a bad defense at home. Away against the Cincy D we’re going get held to like 50 yards total
Just run the ball on us because we have some of the worst back 7 on earth. You block Davis and you'll kill us.
I’m trying to be optimistic and believe we don’t suck and its all due to the crazy amount of injuries. But Malzahn’s decision making is shit. Between the Gatewood plays last game and that awful RB screen play in the 4th down 3 where the entire O-line didn’t move. After the Navy loss and 12 PM kickoff, opted to not drive up to Cincy next week. If we are still missing players, it will be a blowout.
If Bowser is back next week we still got to find ways to get Richardson the ball. He’s explosive and we don’t seem to have much of that
Honestly, I think we lose to Cinci but it's close till late in the 4th, then cinci pulls away. This reminds me of UCF teams where we play up or down to our level of competition
