Pfff... as long as it's watchable, I can do 2 & 1/2 hours on my ear. Always amazes me when other people need a pee break after an hour - plan your movie experience better, guys.
This. Take a piss right before going in, don’t drink the baby sized soda if you have a small bladder.
“I know there’s been a lot of things said about what I think about these films.” uhhhhh, yeah. By you Daniel
Reviews are coming out. Seems to be good and a fitting farewell. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.ho...-die-first-reactions-premiere-1235022188/amp/ Link contains tweets that are somewhat spoiler-y
Just got back from seeing it. Spoiler It was okay. Thought I'd like it more but not really sure why I didn't. The action scenes were fun. The story and the acting weren't that great, IMO. Thought Malek's character is kind of weird and all over the place, and the whole movie tries to do too many things at once.
I liked it as well, think i liked skyfall a touch better than this one, but i cant fault you for this statement
Wanted it to be the best Craig movie. I think it was in the middle, not as good as Casino and Skyfall for me. But still pretty good and worth seeing. Certainly more emotional than most of them.
Still like Casino Royale and Skyfall better. 1. Casino Royale 2. Skyfall 3. No Time to Die 4. Spectre 5. Quantum of Solace
Liked it, didn't love it. Never looked at my watch and asked when is this thing going to be over, which is no mean feat for a movie this long. Maybe it was the extra comfy seats, tho
Really want to like it. Felt too convoluted, hated the enemies. Opening sequence and first hour were great. Everything that followed was meh. Most action scenes and acting were great. In the end, it feels like a Metal Gear Solid movie. One thing I learned is that I should buy a 2000s Toyota Land Cruiser next.
Speaking of the watch… Spoiler Do EMPs actually make electronics explode? I thought they only disabled electronics(like the cameras and keypad when they first arrived at the island) and not cause them to explode(like the crappy henchmen’s “eye”)
Thought it was good. That Fukunaga cinematography was outrageous and possibly the tightest action scenes of the Craig era. Absolutely frenetic. Ana de Armas stole the movie and that scene is instantly iconic. Definitely the high point. Appreciate the bold choices. The macguffins and interplay with Spectre/Blofeld/Madeline was all too messy. Score was excellent.
I agree with most of this. It looks amazing and the actions scenes are great. Think the movie would have been better served by eliminating Spectre/Blofeld from it entirely. Led me to not really care as much about Swann or Safin because those characters just aren't that fleshed out. And for the movie to land, it kind of needs you to care about those two. Craig had 5x more chemistry in 10 minutes on screen with de Armas than he has in either of the last two movies with whoever the actor is who plays Swann.
lea seydoux who is a mega bonk for me but they never give her much to say or do that helps that shine through. As many women as James Bond meets, it’s never quite fleshed out why she is the “one”. There’s not much to her whereas Vesper or Paloma have this occupational respect aspect that feels like something Bond would be attracted to. on subject of Safin Spoiler feels like there are probably a LOT of scenes for him left on the cutting room floor. Guys goes from reasonably understandably (for a spy movie) obsessed with Mads to monologuing about unleashing biological mass murder (for…reasons?) 0-100 real quick. Maybe I just missed it, but it made no sense
Completely agree with all of this. Spoiler The Bond/Madeline chemistry never really did anything for me, but then they separate for 5 years like it's End Game essentially just so she can have a kid James doesn't know about and hit him with it later in the movie (and lie to him and say it isn't his). For the story they told, where James was retired anyway and ends up eating it at the end, that story is much easier to tell/follow if they're together those 5 years and James thinks he has the happily ever life, IMO. Even if we don't see it on screen, at least we're given the knowledge that they've been together that long and care about each other. And Safin was all over the place and just randomly changes from one thing to the next and almost never makes any sense. I know that Bond villains historically are really stupid, but I thought he was the weakest of the 5 Craig villains, and that's saying something considering Quantum is a movie that happened.
I feel like this was a movie where all the complaints that have been made so far are very valid, but I still really liked it. Spoiler Safin wasn't that great of a character because I think they didn't give him enough screentime to show or add to his motives, but infecting Bond so he would never be able to see the woman he loves or daughter again was a pretty amazing prank
Saw it last night, I’m not sure I loved this as the end to Craig’s time as Bond as much as I wanted to. It was good, not great. I agree with almost everything already said: 1. Loved the score. That opening song by Billie was outstanding. 2. Action scenes were great 3. First half of the film > back half 4. I didn’t really feel level of emotional connection between Bond and Madeleine that they were aiming for. 5. Ana de Armas Rank: 1. Casino Royale 2. Skyfall 3. No Time To Die 4. Spectre 5. Quantum of Solace
Agree with that ranking, although I liked Quantum more than most and would probably put all 5 in the top half of Bond films.
I recently re-watched Spectre, and I think I'd put it below Quantum. I remember not really liking it, but I was still kind of shocked at how awful it was.
See, I actually like Moore. Certainly better than Bronson or Lazenby. I think The Spy Who Loved Me is top 5 and Live and Let Die and For Your Eyes only are in the top half. I really like Connery, just think some of his are pretty overrated.
