The second tweet is the crux of what all these people do not understand. Yes, part of being an American is the freedom to go live in the middle of no where on a commune having no interaction with society and refusing to believe in science, but you don’t get to act that way and engage with the greater society.
I had to fill out immunization records for multiple kids this weekend just to attend a cub scout function outside in a park. The best part though, is that probably 30% of the scout leaders in our area are overweight, middle aged white guys waddling around spouting republican talking points at children. At one point the guy leading one of the hikes stopped and made us all say kind things on a video for another guy in the hospital with covid. Weirdos in line with us were saying "don't let them put you on a ventilator!" and all sorts of other hoaxer bullshit. At this point, I just expect that garbage in this area of the world, but I can't help thinking about the cognitive dissonance required to be upset at "vaccine passports" but not "immunization records."
Southwest cancelled a bunch of flights, blamed ATC and weather, but rumors persist of a crew walk-out due to anger from the vaccine mandate they imposed. Other carriers not as impacted by the ATC issue, so probably some truth to each, such that even a small work shortage could lead to a major meltdown given the other issues.
Honestly, I would have joined in on urging the guy not to go on a ventilator. Leave it for people who are worth saving.
Southwest has been having crew issues for several months now leading to cancellations and flight delays daily especially if your flight is later in the day. I'd imagine any reduction in staffing no matter how small would have large effects on their ability to fly. Most of this is caused by the fact that they laid off a ton of employees during the height of the pandemic and had a ton of difficulty rehiring.
My wife saw the article on Mrs. DeSantis’ breast cancer diagnosis and mused out loud that maybe it would bring things into perspective for Fat Ron. I’m still laughing at that thought.
My neighbor's whole house has COVID.. parents are both vaccinated (they just moved in with him 2 weeks ago) and both his kids have it. My neighbor isn't vaxxed, but his parents are. Parents are feeling better... I saw him out on his back patio today and he said this is the third day in a row he's felt bad and its the worst day yet, he also has asthma and smokes.
Just found out my older cousin is on a vent, has been on a vent for the last week. He’s the one black sheep on my black side of the family that decided to move to rural Arkansas and become a gun nut, Trumper, anti-vaxxer, and of course part of an evangelical church where he most likely contracted it from. I feel so sorry for my aunt and the rest of my relatives who are going through it right now.
How many bed/bath and sq ft is your neighbor’s house? After a little cleanup and decontamination, could be a good steal at their estate sale.
Very relieved that my father in law got his first shot today after us only asking once now that my wife is pregnant.
My uncle had his birthday last Saturday, got together w my other uncles and aunts and grandma for dinner, my dad don’t go since they didn’t have outdoor seating. They’re all vaxxed, my uncles husband wasn’t feeling well by the end of dinner. Next day he and my uncle and cousin all tested positive, and the rest of my uncles snd aunts got covid except my one uncle who had it in July and thankfully my grandma. also thankful my dad had the common sense not to go even though he was upset about it.
I might get shit for this but are we really still not supposed to hang with a relatively small group of people inside if everyone is vaccinated? I mean no offense to your dad, do whatever makes you feel comfortable in that situation but this just sounds like an unlucky event having a breakthrough case like that in a small group of all vaccinated adults.
Right wingers and for profit healthcare....I’m convinced the goal has always been to kill more people or put them in bankruptcy
So help me fucking god if they actually give different recommendations for like half the population who have been vaccinated. That is going to lead to so many people lying about their vaccination status just so they can get a third shot from a different pharmaceutical company.
90% of eligible population with at least one dose reached in Quebec today. Slowly, but restrictions are coming down one at a time. Hopefully the 5-11 kids vaccination is the final nail in this thing and we can live normally by the beginning of spring.
lol at cost to make it mattering. you think they base the cost of an ipad off how much it takes to make it? fuck out of here
Yea they had the worst on time performance and highest % of canceled flights in June and July as well. Their issues are not new.
I was about to ask what's the latest on the Moderna booster and then saw that tweet. Fuck it, give me a 3rd full dose of Moderna.
Besides the difference in wait time between doses, is there that much difference between Moderna and Pfizer to the point that they seem hesitant on if Moderna even needs a booster?
Sounds like my company is announcing mandatory vaccines tomorrow, whether you’re working from home or not. I am mad I won’t be in our office to hear the outrage when the communication goes out.
my company low-key added a vaccine requirement for new hires. It's on all of our job postings now. It's still not required by current staff (our CEO is against mandates) but we do have something like a 90-92% vaccination rate.
