I honestly didn’t see how you could let him be a part-time player. Might not happen immediately, but eventually that was going to kill the locker room unless the players were collectively on-board with someone putting in half the effort but reaping the same rewards as the full-time players.
i think this entire situation speaks volumes about the character (or lack thereof) of his college coach and the program he runs whomever that may be
Kyrie becoming a right wing hero seems like the most natural progression. Stupid people always seem to find each other.
great reporting shams. just breathlessly carrying water for this idiot and his clearly bullshit reasoning
It makes no sense. If he wanted to be a voice for the voiceless he wouldn't have refused to answer questions or elaborate on why he wasn't vaccinated. This seems like a backtrack and hopefully step 1 in the realization for him that he has to be vaccinated there is no alternative.
Seems like there's 2 obvious follow ups to that story that Shams completely ignores... 1. If Kyrie wants to be a voice for the voiceless, why won't he talk to anyone about it? 2. If Kyrie isn't anti-vax or anti-science (as Shams suggests multiple times), and this is just about government forcing people to get the vax, why wouldn't he get the vaccine, sit anyway, and then make this case?
He can say or do whatever. He is just a fucking asshole. His has always been asshole. That is that long and the short of it.
Kyrie is dumb enough to believe all this stuff, but he's just smart enough to know that saying the words out loud and confirming those beliefs will lead to ridicule. So he thinks them, and then hides behind never publicly commenting on those thoughts to give him enough cover where some people will remain loyal.
The frustrating part for me is that he has done a lot of really legitimately awesome things. Like donate a million dollars to wnba players who had their salaries affected by the shortened season. Or donate thousands of masks and food for people during the pandemic and even get water to a village in pakistan. But then he does things like this that are just inexplicable and indefensible and the worst part is its self inflicted. The media or celtics fans aren't out to get him here. This is a 100% Kyrie torpedoing Kyrie.
STEPHEN A: Skip I want to ADDRESS this issue. [BAYLESS nods] You KNOW I am sensitive to the Holocaust BAYLESS: Absolutely STEPHEN A: BUT!
I mean that’s objectively false. Also, fuck anyone that loses their job bc they refuse to get vaccinated without a legit medical reason
Wish Beal could be held to same scrutiny, not sure I’m even a fan of his stupid ass anymore. Lost a gold medal and still thinks he’s right.
His agent and PR team can spin it however they want. He is potentially sabotaging an NBA title opportunity. Even if his cause was noble, that is hard to come back from in professional sports.
Well smart people are asking if it was full blown HIV since Magic looks awfully healthy 30 years later… /s
She has a point, letting Magic play with full blown HIV was a risky proposition, especially considering how the Showtime Lakers often shared hypodermic needles on fast breaks.
There's something about being very good at some tiny niche in life that makes people feel like their thoughts are super profound
