Think the last medalist was Leipold winning gold in 2000 over Slay before having it stripped for doping. Before that he medaled a few times, was frequently on the receiving end of Saitiev beatings
Thomas Gilman, WORLD CHAMPION!!! Finishes 2nd and 3rd at NCAAs, finishes 2nd at worlds, finishes 3rd at the olympics, and now he rounds out his trophy case with a world gold medal. Love it.
It is done. Medved Saitiev Beloglazov Fadzaev Yordanov Khadartsev Movahed Tediashvili Andiyev Khabelov Smith Gatsalov Sadulaev Jordan Burroughs
Americans tend to run a bit longer as the folkstylr transition takes some time for most...but he's past that age for all but most intense stalwarts like Baumgartner
I don’t know the match order with the split Women’s/Men’s day but the medal rounds start at Noon Eastern. Could be the 6th match or 12th of that session.
yes, medal matches start at noon ET and it will be the sixth match. So you're probably looking at a little after 1 PM ET.
snyder really never came close to scoring on sadulaev. That's why he's the best in the world I guess. Russia wins the team title.
The Tank is coming for that greatest of all-time spot, and I can’t see anything that will slow him down at this point. Snyder just doesn’t have anything for him at this point, his offense just hasn’t progressed and Sadulaev is just flat better. Russia’s B+(plus because Sadulaev is a letter grade on his damn own) just good enough to pip the A teams from the US and Iran, but it was a battle. The big 3 completely dominated this tournament
He's been on the wrestling scene for 8-9 years now and he's lost twice--once in his first ever senior level match, and once to a 3x world champion up TWO weight classes. It's honestly insane that Snyder even beat him once.
Was RFW ineligible to win the team trophy? Ol' Willie is having a melty that they were given the team trophy.
So Japan women sent their B team, who are all age level medalist, and appear to have dominated. Tamyra got pinned in the semi’s.
That was brutal, she’s been killing everyone and got a little over aggressive. Japan women’s wrestling is on another level, their B team straight dominated. Even Russian men’s freestyle ain’t that deep
Suriano back to PSU sounds like a done deal. Gonna be real interesting to see how Iowa/PSU turns out this season...
57kg: Gilman over Atri/Sarlak - Gilman just beat both these guys soundly on the biggest stage. Don't see any reason why it would be different in the USA. 61kg: Fix over Amouzad or Amouzad over Tomasello - If Fix can't go because he chooses to wrestle DeSanto instead and can't do both, then Tomasello seems like the obvious fill-in. 65kg: Yazdani vs ??? - No idea who goes here. JO seems like the obvious guy if he can make 65 but I think he's permanently in that 70-74 zone. Yianni has a dual. Zain next man up? 70kg: Elahi vs ??? - James Green or JO probably here, with Pantaleo as another option. JO seems like an obvious choice for this card though, he has to be on it, right? 74kg: Dake over Hosseinkhani/Emami - Dake already beat Hosseinkhani so take that fwiw, but I don't think it matters who Iran sends here. 79kg: JB over Nokodhi - Let's run it back! Don't see anything going differently though. 86kg: DT vs HYC - LFG! Not gonna make a prediction, just gonna enjoy this one. 92kg: Cox vs Ghasempour - The 4th straight rematch from an olympic/worlds match. I think Cox takes this one. 97kg: Snyder vs ??? - Iran could send Goleij, Shabani, or Mohammadian. Goleij would be an immediate rematch of that last second semi win. Snyder beat Shabani in the Dogu finals and lost to Mohammadian at the Pellicone. 125kg: The one we've all been waiting for! For like 2 weeks. I get the feeling it doesn't happen, but if it does, I'm going with Zare I think, even though I said two years ago I would never pick against Gable in a wrestling match ever again. I just don't know where his head is going to be at.

I know I have said this before but Eirman being able to wrestle still seems absurd. He has old man strength now.
Currently #3 in the c/o 2023, took a TB2 loss to Gabe Arnold at WNO but still probably top 10 nationally. Good chance we'll see him very early in his career, might have to start as a true freshman.
Appears to be subtweeting Vincent Kilkeary, top 20 C/O 2023 recruit from same high school as Luke Pletcher and good friends with new commit Welsh.
How does scoring work? There are some guys I have in mind, but they might not have much value at weights that are really deep, like 133 where the top 5 guys are pretty much set in stone.
Scorning is similar to real scoring so 6 for a pin and inj default 5 for a tech. If your guy loses the scoring is a negative so if he gets pinned - 6 for example. I have 125 - lane Jarrett Lehigh 133 - Micic 141 - eirman 149 - Hunter Lewis - NC state 157 - Jacori teamer - ASU 165 - O’toole 174 - Michael Labriola - Nebraska 184 - Hunter Bolen - Va Tech 197 - Stephan Buchanan - Wyoming 285- Wyatt Hendrickson - Air Force Floater 165 - whittlake 157 - will lewan Michigan bench chris cannon - 133 northwestern Micheal beard - 197. Need to drop him with dean I didn’t realize Clay lautt - North Carolina 184 Anthony Echemendia - listed at 133. Took a flyer
