um guys, this sounds bad. no current outbreak tho.....for now Nipah Virus Kills Half Its Victims And Could Be The 'Next Pandemic Threat' By Bill Galluccio October 12, 2021 Photo: Getty Images A top vaccine scientist is warning about a deadly virus that could cause the next global pandemic. Professor Dame Sarah Gilbert, who helped develop Astrazeneca's COVID-19 vaccine, was speaking during an event at the Cheltenham Literature Festival and warned attendees about the Nipah virus, which kills half of the people it infects. She said that if the virus mutates to become more infectious is could quickly spread around the globe, killing countless people. "Something everybody is very much aware of now is how as SARS-CoV-2 has spread through the world," Gilbert said, according to The Sun. "It's mutated, it's evolved, and what we've ended up with is the Delta variant which is very highly transmissible." "If we get a Delta variant [evolved to be more transmissible] of Nipah virus, then suddenly we've got a highly transmissible virus with a 50 percent fatality rate." The Nipah virus is on a list of ten priority diseases compiled by the World Health Organization. "Nipah virus infection is a zoonotic illness that is transmitted to people from animals and can also be transmitted through contaminated food or directly from person-to-person. In infected people, it causes a range of illnesses from asymptomatic (subclinical) infection to acute respiratory illness and fatal encephalitis," the agency said. The virus has resulted in several outbreaks around the world, including one in 2018 in the southern Indian state of Kerala. That outbreak sickened 19 people, killing 17 of them. The virus has since reappeared in the region, but thanks to swift isolation protocols, authorities have managed to keep the virus contained. There are currently no known treatments for the Nipah virus, though Gilbert said she spent five years trying to create a vaccine. "We've known about that for years, and we started making a vaccine five years ago, but we haven't done it yet. It's not finished," she said.
Me: I don’t understand how a virus with that high of a mortality rate could cause a pandemic WHO website: “The incubation period (interval from infection to the onset of symptoms) is believed to range from 4 to 14 days. However, an incubation period as long as 45 days has been reported.” me: fuck
My company always has a ton of job openings, but despite having a vaccine mandate, seems like hiring has not slowed any.
You have to forcibly vaccinate 1 rwnj for every day you are south of the border. Those are the rules. We will let you know where you can pick up some vax vials & needles.
What the Americans still haven’t cleared up is what do those with mixed vaccines stand. I have AZ and Pfizer and while AZ hasn’t been approved in the USA yet they do recognize it as a viable vaccine. They just haven’t stated where we stand. The evidence speaks for itself as our numbers are low
Would you get a 3rd Moderna if you lived in a state that has YOLO itself to among the worst in the country like TN has? Yes I know we should not take medical advice from TMB lol. Just curious.
I wish they would hurry and approve that booster. TN has managed to work their way to the worst in the country in cases per 1m people apparently.
I find it odd that TN is the worst in the country for cases per capita but only top 15 in total deaths and like 20 in per capita deaths.
Wasn’t sure where to post this. Figured since it was originally about the vaccine mandates I’d post it here.
With cases, hospitalizations, and deaths still falling, at what point can we say we aren't going to see another peak? End of November?
Good job, jinxing it, jerk. It’s like Half-Life 3, every time you mention its release date, it gets pushed back another month or whatever.
The mandatory Vax email went out to the company and it’s been really funny. A few people threatened to quit in one of our teams channels, but then one person read the email and saw that you get a bonus if you’re fully vaccinated by December and now it’s not so horrible.

#pfizerpham & #modernamafia I am taking your sales pitches and best offers to join your lifestyles for my booster
TBF, my 2nd shot was administered in the front part of my shoulder. I think they clipped a nerve or bursa, as it still hurts at time 6 months later. I can minimize the pain, but some angles make it really painful. Could just be coincidental that I did something around the same time. Either way, I don’t care and am ready for my booster.
