summary of why there isnt a quick fix and we're gonna have to churn? Or why the ports dont work round the clock?
I was out of the loop on the ports being a big bottleneck in the supply chain right now. So I suppose both, yikes.
I didnt watch what he’s referring to. Idk why the ports aren’t running 24/7. Seems like commons sense that they should. Maybe they can’t get workers for what they’ll pay them idk. As far as the larger supply chain issue - there’s no immediate fix because companies under estimated the speed we’d return to normalcy. It takes a while for them to ramp up production. Also the bottle neck at the ports has causes a container shortage. Except that it’s not a shortage they just can’t unload them fast enough to put them back in the supply chain cycle. There’s no policy that can address this. It’s supply side inflation. What we can do is address issues to prevent this in the future. Something like… oh i dont know… an infrastructure bill or something silly like that.
They can’t get people and also there are safety and maintenance reasons to not running ports 247 in a normal environment.
Brazilians love Orlando and they are nearly all massive assholes so good luck Connecticut. Florida wins the Civil ConFLiCT again.
Biden added money to the CARES act that increases funding to get chip manufacturing going domestically. That’s actually a big deal that will pay off in the future. But that takes a lot of time w no immediate pay off. So no headlines or convo for it
I was working on logistics and it was impossible to find drivers coming out of port cities, and god forbid you need a team of drivers
Graham was probably referring to Haitian Nationals living in Brazil now migrating but his mind mixed it up w his incognito tab and assuming Bolsonaro doesn’t become a dictator next year I’m not sure life is better for poorer than middle class in Miami than it is in São Paulo
I’ve wanted to listen to those but I just can’t tear myself away from all these forklift operator podcasts I’ve been in on.
This is the video I was referring to fwiw. My surprise is that the docks weren't operating 24/7 when many major shipping ports around the world do.
sometimes between th racist death cult and the constant kowtowing to big business I forget that America is an irredeemable right wing hellhole.. thanks RBG
This country has treated black folks like shit forever but the upside is we are rarely snowed by anything that happens. Obama was probably the biggest moment in my lifetime but in hindsight (for me) he was just another politician.
To be fair most of those journalists are part of that same organization, or at least will be cool with it if the cocktail parties and access go uninterrupted.
And how is that going to matter in terms of driver shortages? I don't want them to reduce their regulations especially regarding driving hours per day
