It was annoying as hell when they put their songs in guitar magazines. Bitch I’m not tuning to that

I was a huge fan of Korn’s first album. I saw them in concert in 97.

Don’t even think I bought anything past the second album though. I also really liked Limp Bizkit’s first album and saw them in concert at least twice. Ahh, the 90s.

I was a hardcore 311 guy for a while, I'd still enjoy them if I'm ever in the mood, just doesn't happen that often anymore

After grunge there was such a huge void in rock. I still liked a lot of the stuff that came after but it wasn't nearly of the same quality. I guess that void was never filled.

The good stuff just stopped being popular. There’s a lot of really great mid to late 90s stuff that still holds up and kicks ass, but seems like it was the end of any actual “good” guitar based music being top 40 hits.

and now it's felt like rock on the radio has been the same tired sound for 20 years now

slight exaggeration yeah, but is it really :warn:

There was also a huge void for me as well. Just change in genre shift. I didn’t much I get into the emo whine shit, but there are some great albums that stick from that time for me.

    couple that come to mind
    Arcade fire
    Mars Volta
    Incubus
    Black keys early shit
    Coheed
    Kaiser

Quite a few 90s named ITT put out great content in 2000s.

I was with them all the way through Evolver before really being turned off with Don't Tread On Me and I just never kept up with them afterwards, also coincided with my musical tastes in general really opening up so it was like a chapter closing in a way. Blows my mind how many albums they've put out since then, and every newish track I've cherry picked simply out of curiosity has given me that same cringe "Dad 311" vibe.

the album that made me lose interest I think around '05 had them really leaning in on the easy listening side of their sound, and every random track I've heard since then has had that exact same vibe

It's a really good one. The guitar solo proper, and the instrumental outro.

My second favorite song on an underrated album, Sweet Oblivion by the Screaming Trees. I didn't really listen to anything of theirs outside of their best known song, "Nearly Lost You There" until seven years ago, but the entirety of the work just really impressed me. Maybe I missed out, or was too young to remember, but I don't remember hearing anything outside of that one song at the time. If anyone has the time, was a fan of grunge, and hadn't already listened to it, Sweet Oblivion is worth listening to.

Since this is a safe space, I loved Korn's first album and I listened to their second album a ton. I liked Slipknot's first album and still listen to Corey Taylor do acoustic sets. I liked Bawditdabah when it came out.

The only things of those that I still like are a few songs off Korn's first album and Corey Taylor unplugged otherwise I hate that I liked all that bullshit. But angry young teenager ya know.

I have a love hate with Pantera. I like Dimebag's guitar playing and a lot of their songs but sometimes I need Anselmo to dial back the super hardo stuff. But I like Message in Blood which is super hardo so maybe I should shut up

I think what makes it different to me is that the music and singing isn't necessarily extraordinarily bad or anything but the lyrics are so god awful and pandering.

Pantera has a lot of confederate flag imagery in their merch. I never took it as a white supremacist thing from them, but I understand some folks won't fw the band anymore because of that

I stuck up for Kid Rock at one point

I've definitely seen the error of my ways on that one. I once gave him credit for not being afraid to mix rock country and rap, but yeah he's just a huge douchebag

I had actually forgotten about that. I think Dime had a Confederate flag guitar as well. I don't think they were especially ideological but yeah that's not going to age well.

I think Anselmo has also gotten in trouble for doing the Nazi salute now that I think about it. Maybe they were problematic. Lol idk

Love this song. It was used PERFECTLY in the movie. A movie I saw in the theater in college during a second go round with the girl that killed me in high school.

    She killed me again.

    Song has meaning for me.

Edit: Do not like this linked album version though. Prefer the GE soundtrack version.
