McDavid had a hat trick against the Flames tonight. He has five points in the first two games in the season. I hope like hell he’s healthy enough to play 75+ this season.
So we lose two of our first three games and somehow we're 1-1-1? Did NHL change some rules at some point? Get it together, hockey.
A team that was 18 millions over the salary cap just won the cup and made a jersey bragging about it, the nhl is the definition of amateur hour
the downside of giving that 7-8 year contract instead of a bridge is the next contract. If they’re good they want a new 7-8 deal at big money and they’re 28-30 years old. So much risk in the long-term deal at that age. if the stars give him a contract like that it could look real ugly toward the end.
Lightning with a pretty big injury crisis at RD. Cal Foote is still out. Bogosian is out 4-6 weeks and Jan rutta left the game yesterday and didn’t return. Already forced to play shitty andrej sustr even before the rutta injury. Likely going to see a lot of sergachev and/or mcdonagh playing on the right if rutta and Foote still can’t go.
How much cap space do they have to play with? Are they going to have to pull a TML and sign local pick up guys??
possibly. I don’t think we have much but kucherov got hurt last night and it didn’t look good at all. Looked like a groin. If he’s out for awhile that might give some additional wiggle room but the NHL salary cap/roster construction is so insanely complicated that I’m not sure.
These are NHLers, they can play on their off side with little drop off. Much better than bringing in some AHL scrub to fill the role.
Ottawa might actually have a stew goin if Stutzle becomes a star offensive player. Shame they already paid Colin White
They will buy him out at the end of the year but only have to pay him 1/3 of remaining contract. His annual buyout will be $800,000 for 6 years. Stutzle looked like a dog in preseason but in the three games so far has played really well. Key is our D… getting Sanderson in the lineup and making sure Jacob Bernard Docker is ready to jump in next season.
I cant even comprehend how'd that work. Probably have to offload Erik Johnson, to make salary work. Then Byram + ??? + a bunch of picks?
Newhook is my guess. Byram too if they needed Buffalo to take Johnson back to make salaries work. I haven’t even looked to see Johnson has a NMC though. That’s in addition to picks of course
Not to mention - Even if they trade Johnson and Byram + whomever else off their current roster, those are big holes for most of the season/whenever Eichel is ready to play. Also - Johnson does have a NMC edit - it's a M-NMC
It's prorated. So if he misses the rest of the season, they get that 97%, whatever that is of his cap as relief.
IrishLAX2 is Buchnevich normally a hot head? He just got a match penalty for head butting after getting cross checked.
Rangers want all the fighters this off-season and trade away their only tough guy. But seriously, yeah he has a nasty streak about him. Granted, this sounds way worse than normal for him but not totally shocked.
Pretty wild this is a match penalty considering some of the shit that happens after the whistle. Is a head butt an arbitrary automatic match penalty?
I mean it’s been reported that he submitted a fake vax card. It’s not like he just forgot to wear a mask one day or something.
At this point what can Buffalo reasonably expect? If they goes on another month, Eichel won’t likely play this season. Buffalo also doesn’t want to retain salary. Considering no one know what Eichel will be when he gets his surgery, there is a massive risk for the acquiring team to make this deal. At this bet Buffalo should be happy to one very young NHL player with potential, a B prospect and some conditional picks.
