When you win the Stanley cup, it is overwhelmingly likely that things won’t work out as well the next season. Should still make the playoffs and unlike last seasons injury, this one doesn’t seem like a season ender. My bigger concern is him rushing back to be ready for the Olympics and aggravating the injury.
I hate this NHL schedule btw. Detroit doesn’t play Tampa again until March, but the Wings/Canadiens play three times between Saturday and November 13. It’ll be nice for us to get three easy wins but still.
Every team in a NFL city always requests to play as few games as possible in October-December to avoid competing with the NFL.
That doesn’t explain why we’ve played only one game so far + we play this Sunday at the exact same time as the Pats?
If we're bitching about schedules. Blues didnt play until 5 days into the season, and their first 3 games are 9pm start times during the week. Fucking stinks! Yes Im crabby from staying up late.
I didn't say the schedule made sense. I'm saying that these long breaks happen in the first month because every team requests to have as few home games as possible during October-December to stay away from the NFL.
I just got around to finishing the Seravelli podcast, and they were discussing Canada’s goaltending for the Olympics. They were making a case for Mike Smith to make the roster. Good god, Canada.
Glad it wasnt only me. I laughed at the part where he found a new training regiment that makes him a better goalie all the sudden at 40
I’m a tad skeptical hippo on this impact since it doesn’t seem too difficult to just avoid Sundays (which the NHL mostly does anyway). There’s enough games most Mondays, plus a ton of games on Thursdays so it doesn’t seem they’re too concerned about Colour Rush.
It's not just about avoiding Sunday. It's about not having to compete with the NFL for consumer's money. If choosing between spending money on a football game or a hockey game, the average fan is going to the NFL game 9 out of 10 times. That's why teams would rather have their home games take place after the NFL season is over.
In other weirdly thin olympic positions, it floors me that Russia has such insane winger depth and is probably going to have fringe NHL'ers at 2-4 C. I always find it interesting that some countries are always better at producing high level players at certain positions and bad at others.
their goaltending is also getting nasty. I heard an interesting point on that. They are really focusing on the skating for the position. These guys move so well, makes a lot of sense.
2-0 sj….4 minutes in And I have never seen the bell center so empty. This is sad. Well except when the rules were different. The tv ratings are very very bad. Not sure what is going on.
Pleased with our start to the year vs quality competition Really need to load manage this old af roster
The Wild-Jets game was absolutely bonkers. Jets had an ENG disallowed due to being offsides, and the Wild tied it up about 15-20 seconds later. And this was how it ended: The rare home game hat trick where I don't think any hats were thrown.
It helps that they played three below average teams with even worse defenses, but the sabres have been impressive so far.
