Any specific reason you moved on from the i210? I’m playing Ping G but thinking of buying a set of i210s
I think Ogilve gets into it on the Fried Egg pod he was on a while back but not sure. I know he talked about it a while back on there
That was a little different because it was two separate tournaments being played simultaneously at one course, alternating men’s and women’s groupings. This seems to be much more mixed based on the short interview
Man the NLU guys (sans Randy) going in on the Loop on the Michigan Tour Sauce podcast today, did not expect that at all.
They all (again, sans Randy) hated it. Too hard and unfair and too tricked out for the reversible idea. As negative as I’ve ever heard them talk about a course ever, even places they clearly don’t care for. Might be because of the Duel set up and not moving pins but I didn’t find it particularly difficult as a 15 so it was very surprising.
I'll have to listen to it because I have no idea what you're talking about. Thought you were saying they had a caddy at one of the Michigan courses they played that they didn't get along with.
The Loop is a Doak course in Michigan that is reversible. https://www.forestdunesgolf.com/news/91-upcoming-events
I “worked” close to the course(the loop) and it’s on my list of places I’d like to play. Also, thought this was hilarious. the gym I go to gives you bonus points for checking in etc. so I looked through their store.
Luckily for everyone I’m playing today if it doesn’t rain. I don’t have a 2 but I will 100% be doing this with my 3 iron.
Not a range finder, per se, but I got the Garmin Approach S10 watch a couple years ago and I love that thing. It's GPS, so will give you front, middle, back readings of the green. Has a display of the hole, will tell you how far from hazards/traps/water, etc. Some of the watches are much more advanced (color, touch screen, slopes, etc.), but I got mine on sale for like $100 or $125 and it gets the job done. Automatically picks up the course you're at, you don't have to load anything. I've used it across the county and in Mexico twice and I've yet to play a course it didn't have. Can't recommend it enough. https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/611037/pn/010-02028-01
Started recently using the features of the Garmin Vivoactive and they seem pretty accurate. I think it’s gonna be similar but to that but less golf focused, obviously. But also wanted to take a look at a more traditional rangefinder. But good to know Garmin is well thought of too
I have a range finder from laser works it’s ok, cheap. I use a voice caddie watch that has slope on it. Used to use the Garmin approach s20.
I have no opinion on this subject, but the post did inspire me to buy a vintage 90’s shark hat (not straw) and polo off of eBay just now
Is that front and back readings based on your line to the green? Are the two dots what that indicates?
I downloaded an app on my phone, but haven’t actually tried it out. Takes too much time when I’m with others.
GolfLogix? Same. I’d never use anything like that or what I linked outside of the practice green or a solo session without pressure from groups behind me
Correct. It has the general green shape too, so that’s helpful. Not super detailed, but good quick reference
Looks like Mevo+ is about to unlock club data and make a big improvement to ball tracking with something they’ve labeled Fusion Tracking. If it works, that’ll be pretty awesome for people with the space for one indoors. Majorly disruptive from a price perspective. Details apparently coming today
We just bought a new place with plenty of room in the backyard for a golf simulator set up. I've been leaning towards the Garmin but am intrigued by the Mevo, might hold off until reviews come out now
I see a lot of buyers remorse about the R10 or people praying updates fix its accuracy issues. Saw a few videos where it was literally reading draws as fades, lol. I’m okay with a little variance with carry distances but getting shot shape wrong makes me think your shit is fundamentally flawed. JMO. Understand the cost difference is pretty major
