This is a great point and I completely agree. Americans would be better off (knowledge/history-wise) if it was taught to all of us.
The difference in the roar of the audience when he talks about fighting corporate interests and putting stipulations on his meeting with the lgbtq community, compared to the smattering of applause when he mentioned 8:46 is all you need to know about where he is in his journey.
“Thank god for Netflix giving me millions and millions of dollars for exclusive rights to broadcast my rants to the entire world, otherwise i’d be cancelled.” Someone that has clearly been cancelled.
“Also, that movie that nobody is letting you see? Here’s all the places where you can pay to see it.” Definitely cancelled joke man.
there’s a difference in being the subject of a joke and the target. basically every trans person in existence has said they feel like a target of his special. if you consider yourself any kind of ally, you should try listening. i’m not offended, i’m sad. i’m disappointed that a comedian i used to really enjoy has decided to grind their multimillion dollar axe on my community and in turn, energize a legion of chuds to harass trans women. our right to exist is under attack in the US and all over the globe and the last thing we need is someone aiming a platform that large at us in anger. and that’s all this is, anger that we spoke up and didn’t like being the butt of his jokes. and instead of trying to listen, he doubled down and tried to use his dead trans friend as a shield (that he has no problem misgendering).
I’m not sure if I maybe don’t read/ post in many of the threads you do or if I’m just super unobservant (probably the latter) but I didn’t realize we had a trans poster here. Either way, thank you for sharing your viewpoint.
Just wish Dave would just give it a rest. Seems like he is enjoying the continuing of fueling the fire.
trans existence is a big part of The Discourse these days (thanks dave) so i decided to own it on here. i had a whole emotional coming out in the champs thread last week.
Yep, this is me. Sucks but not a fan of who he is now. Maybe he was always that I wasn't a good enough person to acknowledge it. Maybe he changed, maybe I changed, but something changed.
Don’t know who you are as a poster, but live your life. I hope/expect your experience on TMB remains a positive one.
Reminder Dave hangs out with Joe Rogan. That should’ve let y’all know what’s been going on in his head.
True. Sadly, many conservatives are fucking around and finding out (see separate thread with a similar title for specific references), hence less of them on the board.
Lmaooo. Is this what they’re selling chuds on now? That CRT has infiltrated schools and is being secretly taught everywhere? these conspiracy theories just keep getting worse. It’s like a giant, societal IQ test- the longer you keep believing the lower your number.
I don't remember any specific posts so that is probably good but have to say that is at the very least a great username upgrade.
If you had told me twenty years ago that in twenty years the guy with the weird voice from Police Academy would understand plight more than the dude from Half Baked I would have just stared at you.
I have a tendency to trend toward devil's advocate sometimes solely for the purpose of discussion, so I've really tried to see where Dave is coming from on any of this. The more he continues to double, triple, etc. down on this, and the manner in which he's doing it, it becomes impossible to see it as anything but transphobia, willful ignorance, and a continued effort to make this about him being persecuted, which is super gross. Sucks to watch from a guy that used his comedy to push discussion on race issues for years and so many of us loved.

He’s at the point of the process where he is now the victim whose voice is being silenced, or at least that’s what he’s saying on the worldwide entertainment network paying him millions. He’ll be on Fox News by the weekend. It’s sad watching him play the conservative game when all he has to do is apologize and move on, but that’s not their game.
Idk if I read it here or not but I buy that the transphobia was always there. They pointed to the example of the Prince skit where the punchline is them getting run through by guys in blouses. It just happened to be funny.
The black community isn't immune to toxic masculinity and you could probably argue that being marginalized for so long only increased it. The idea of being beaten in sports by effeminate men is and has been the butt of jokes for decades...Dave was just the first person to put such a famous face to it imo. Standalone, that skit is still hilarious. The more he continues to put context to it, the worse it gets.
Also humor in 2001 isn't the same as humor is 2021. Doesn't excuse humor from the past but context matters. Lots and lots of comedies from that era are a real bad look now.
