Goose killed one of the best shows I’ve ever seen last night. Holy shit. Surprise 3rd set put an already incredible show over the top. Spoiler Set I: Tumble, Bob Don, Life On The Shelf*, White Lights > Jive I > Jive Lee > Rock The Casbah Set II: Wysteria Lane, It Burns Within, Seekers On The Ridge Pt. 1 > Seekers On The Ridge Pt. 2, Hot Tea > Dragonfly Pt. 1 > Dragonfly Pt. 2 Set III: Get the Funk out of My Face, Creatures > Pumped Up Kicks, Madhuvan > Trevor Reads Poetry > Turn on your Love light > Madhuvan Encore: Teaprise
Was listening to Billy last night and he had me contemplating life and quiting my job. Guy is an unbelievable song writer. If you can link your value to your wallet or a key chain Or a locked wrought iron fence around your yard Living check to check, a skinny tie around your neck On stolen time and borrowed numbers off a card You blink and life is left behind you There’s no escape, that’s just a fact We’re all a dollar short and Every one of us is running out of track
Call back from Bingo Tour. It was one of the balls from that. He read Acquainted with the Night by Robert Frost.
This isn't a complaint, just an observation, but I feel like on almost every song it would be more accurate for setlists to say Bathtub Gin > Jam. It feels like more often than not the jams depart completely away from the framework of the song.
Per my friend: Someone took their life at phish last night by jumping off the balcony. Phish played wingsuit and set your soul free after that. I know they didn’t know but talk about bad song choices.
They had to have known. They blocked off about 15 rows 2 sections from the stage. Kind of hard to miss. Also, they kept the lights low at setbreak not to mention the commotion of a huge section scattering.
Apparently a second person was hurt in a separate accidental fall from the balcony not long after that.
Judging from what I'm reading on social media and whatnot, Chase Center should probably re-evaluate the height of their protective glass in the upper sections. 1st guy purposefully jumped... 2nd guy reportedly lost his balance and fell (onto someone else), and that shouldn't happen.
Can’t wait for Asheville next weekend. Would prefer to be in Vegas, but not a bad consolation. Did you go to all 4 nights?
I missed Thursday because I was out of town and got back Friday afternoon. Billy and the Kids is the best show I’ve seen all year, but these Billy Strings shows take up the next 3 spots.
Halfway through the Velvet Underground doc on Apple+. Quite interesting to see all sorts of backstory that led to the environment in which VU existed, which itself was a pretty crazy time in the 20th century. Highly recommend if you like this sort of thing
Yeah; they are going to do a 6 or 7 show tour over December January. Basically acoustic Goose. Not a bad thing at all
This kinda falls in line with some of the rumors going around that the Halloween set is going to be “new” old phish. Either white tapes or a cover of the first show in ‘83 or maybe re-worked old material. Things like the “and so to bed” and this set also kinda pointing to it. It would be cool if the rest of the sets this weekend were just played in the style of previous phish eras going backwards.
My buddy texted the group last night that Phish was counting down to something. Now I know what he meant.
The thing is, that show last night was even better than the setlist looks. There is some serious business in there. I mean, the 1999 basically has a gin jam tacked on to it. I’m having real FOMO.
My brother is there and he said he’s never heard a crowd reaction like the -> 1999. I’ve got about the worst fomo ever right now.
I’m on my way to north Georgia hills right now for a bachelor party. Seriously thinking about bailing on my buddy and hopping on a plane at ATL. Round trip to Vegas only $250 and tickets for tonight are cheap as hell, $50. Too dickish?
How good of a friend and does he like Phish? My wife surprised me with Billy Strings tickets for my birthday (which is awesome and she’s the best) but damn if I’m not kinda sour right now
Wouldn’t be first time you bailed on a friend for a better offer… Sorry, you put that on a tee for me.
Yeah, I gotta get myself back on track. Not like me to be this fickle and untrustworthy. That would weigh on me for years. would still be worth it though
