Vivid cranks the contrast way up, with oled that means dark stuff is super dark. Switch over to one of the cinema modes and see if it’s better.

You might be the rare case where qled is the better option, they are a good bit brighter and handle bright rooms better.,

OLED is not as bright as LED, so keep that in mind... Your individually room and the direction and amount of light should likely factor into your final decision based on what you shared.

You can always return the OLED right away if it doesn't work, or experiment with an additional curtain or consider changing them.

What are the best options for an LED then? Also, any tricks to hanging these bitches and what do i need to be able to hide my cable box and shit?

Pretty much what I was going to say - have a friend who has the 75" in their apartment and it is pretty dope that you don't know it's a tv until it's on but that's basically what you're paying for.

TV looks great from my limited watching experiences there. Honestly would consider getting one if it made sense for my place.

I would still recommend C1 or G1, but if you want to go LED, this is the best source to determine/rank.

fwiw I picked up a c1 OLED from the Costco's a few weeks back and it's the best picture I've ever had on a tele. I usually use the 'vivid' mode and have no issues with black level. there are additional configs to make as mentioned itt. rtings also has calibration settings. I messed around with them, but decided I liked the preset vivid setting best.

Same here. Upgraded from a 2013 Vizio M series LED.

I bought the new Sonos Arc earlier this year to go with the sub and back speakers and was missing out on Dolby Atmos with the old TV. I highly recommend anyone who has a new TV that can handle Dolby Atmos to go out and purchase a sound system that has it. It is amazing.

May be joining this thread shortly. Had noticed some random dark spots recently on my Samsung and finally did a test with a white screen. :ohdear:

I assume the back light is failing?

My living room gets a ton of light (Five huge windows around where I want to put my TV). Do you think I should go with QLED considering my situation?

Qled is about twice the nits compared to oled so I would certainly consider it.

We have this TV for about a year. We went with the white trim but I believe you can swap that out. My wife did get the $4.99/month art membership and swaps those out every couple of weeks though you can easily get around it if you want to manually upload images. A friend of ours gets theirs from Etsy I guess.

3 months free of the artwork service with the purchase so I'll see how that goes - will see how easy it is to upload stuff once fully installed.

Made the move and got the LG OLED '55 at Costco yesterday. Any suggestions on what apps I should download and settings I should do?

Congrats. It’s an awesome tv for sure.

I tried these settings from rtings.com, but ended up just using the “vivid” preset setting. Didn’t change anything else. Looked better imo but ymmv

I'm happy so far. The '55 is perfect for my living room setup. I'm tempted to watch DUNE on this tv instead of going to the theater. Friendly heads, the Costco $100 streaming can only be used for Paramount+, Showtime, SlingTV, Google Play Store, or XBOX.

Any idea when sales will start kicking in on TVs/black friday?

Have that really bright room in a high rise with floor to ceiling windows, but still thinking about an OLED. Dont game. Think I have it narrowed down to:

    LG OLED65C1
LG OLED65G1 (really like the flush to the wall look)
    Sony XR-65A90J
    Samsung QN6590

Slickdeals will pick up on 99% of sales. You can create a email notification when any words or phrases are posted to the forum and they’ll email you. I did that when I got my 65” C9 and it saved me a lot of time and a little bit of money.

55 is literally all that would fit without demolition/construction. It's like a cutout situation. But yeah I hear you. 55 seemed big til it was across the room and up above eye level

My couch to the TV is 12.5 feet and the 75" is perfect - for who was asking about what was potentially too big for a living room, etc.

I do think the 85" would have been pretty obnoxious for the room though.

the back of my couch would be 11’ away from the wall the TV is on. Think that 75” would be good there? Also you like your frame? If I go up to 75” I probably am going to go cheaper than the LG G1

So the Geek Squad just came to mount my new Frame TV and they said this optical cable can’t go behind the wall because it is so fragile and I have to be a special cord through Samsung that’s like another $250. Wtf? Who would ever want it like this? Anyone know if I can just use this cord to put behind the wall?

(don’t mind the mess. just going thru a renovation)

That’s a one connect cable. Just use the regular one that came with the TV assuming it is long enough.

I don't have a braided optical cable, but the black plastic one I have is probably the most substantial (incl HDMI etc.) cable out of the back of my TV. They are dumb.

Every now and then Sonos beams will go on sale. I love mine. Got it for like $200 from Costco. I like it because it’s modular. I’ve added surround sound with Sonos Ones after the fact. You obviously wouldn’t do that but the quality is nice.
