What is there to be confused about? People like different things. It’s a very well done, well-acted, exciting action-drama. Kind of checks a lot of boxes for moviegoers.
sure, but people also say its one of the best movies ever made etc which is absurd subjectively obviously
there's a 600+ page thread here about marvel movies seems like "well done, well-acted, exciting action-dramas" are very popular
exactly its basically just a schtick at this point. Bill has that only child deal where everything he likes he either has to plant his flag as the "first" to like it or he has to plant his flag as the biggest fan of it
The “rewatchables” title is misleading. It is about what movie Bill wants to talk about. They did the pilot of Miami Vice for Christ sake.
He probably saw Cobra was on tv and decided he’d do a podcast about it. No one has ever watched Cobra more than twice in a decade in human history.
I’d watch the shit out of Val Kilmer, Tom Sizemore, and Robert De Niro shooting a bunch of robots with assault rifles in downtown LA like what happens at the end of every marvel movie NGL
Not true at all. He was talking about Cobra a decade ago when he had Carolla on the BS pod. I know plenty of guys who grew up in the 80s who have seen it a bunch.
I don’t listen but haven’t they done like 600 movies? At some point you’re going to have to include some shitty ones
Its like 207. They have done I think 211 but its been Heat three times, Departed twice and a Miami Vice tv episode.
part of my beef is there have been some glaring omissions like Pulp Fiction, Snatch, Fargo, BTTF, & The Prestige that they keep kinda teasing they will do but crank out crap like 8MM , The Doors, and various chick flicks like the Notebook, My Best Friend's Wedding, etc.
How they hell have they not done a Collateral episode? That said, I'm glad they got 3-Heat out of the way so they can stop talking about it.
Agree on that. They definitely in the last year have done more for them. I’m still waiting on: Pulp True Lies Catch Me If You Can Apollo 13 Dumb and Dumber Ace Anchorman Dodgeball Zoo lander Great Outdoors League of Their Own
my biggest criticism of the pod is not the movies they do. it's that bill has taken control as host and that they're doing so many two-man pods. bill is objectively the worst host for the pod because he has no interest in listening to the conversation and responses and he is always rushing through categories. he also has a very limited knowledge of film. one of the reasons why Van Latham is so good on the pod is because he has an entirely different perspective than others. a bunch of other people at the ringer would probably be interesting to listen to because others probably have a different view of what's a meaningful and rewatchable movie. sean and chris should host 80% of them with rotating guests, including more directors, writers, and actors.
I don't want more directors, writers, and actors. But agree, the pod is better when it is Chris/Sean + someone else from the Ringer, whether it be Bill/Van/Shea etc.
The 1994 movie draft episode was great for this exact reason. A bunch of different viewpoints and ideas about what are awesome movies. Shea (who is not always my favorite) acting like he was drafting Three Colors Red and then taking Time Cop was hilarious.
I bitch about bill but I’m splitting the difference here. I like him on the pods WITH a few others. However, I haven’t enjoyed movie ones without him, but that’s prob a small sample + movie choices.
I'm with you. I like it when Bill hosts but I prefer when there are two other people on with him regardless of who it is except for Mallory or Amanda. He, Chris and Sean are my favorite trio but Van is really good as is Russillo and Kyle Brandt. The Predator pod with Bill, Shea, Kyle and Chris was pretty damn funny.
1. Dave Chang, obvi 2. Mallory 3. Shea 4. Fenessy 5. Bryan Curtis 6. Andy Greenwald 7. Chris Ryan only as Al Pacino tho 8. Van Lathan 9. Bill’s sons rap group 10. Bill
Mallory is solid but this thread overrates her the way Bill overrates things he likes. LOOK IN THE MIRROR FOLKS
Bill making the Rodgers story about the Pats and the Sarver story about himself. That’s why he’s the GOAT
Goodell sucks but dickless Adam Silver is still pitching a no hitter! Just look at the ratings! Or don't So now anytime Bill gets flamed on Twitter for something he's just gonna make up friends and act like that's how he found out about it? Schrader in full ass kissing mode this one
this weekly "million dollar picks" pod... i just don't get why it's a thing, other than to undermine sal
well this year its sole purpose is for Bill to get someone to suck his dick and never challenge his football takes. At least Bill can't completely cheat at million dollar picks the way he does in guess the lines
