Built a computer about a year ago and the nzxt case came with a rgb/fan controller so I plugged my fans into that instead of mobo and went on with my life. Realized about a week ago that the fans never run. I can’t for the life of me get windows to see the controller. Ordered a new one and am gonna see if I can get that to work then I’m gonna return the order with the old one. Fucking thing never worked and I’m outside of the warranty.
Had a nice little surprise this week. They finally got to my spot in the EVGA 3080 line. Signed up a year ago and kinda forgot about it.
it has a usb header and sata power. it's not a troubleshooting issue. I just plugged the new one into the same connections as the old and it works.
Getting in the Halloween spirit today, streaming Prey for some sci-fi survival horror goodness. Twitch link in my bio, live now!
Bought an El Gato, going to use my spare computer as a streaming box so I can actually play some PC games on stream with my ancient gaming PC. Moral of the story - two old and underpowered PCs make a right
So I am all in on Darkwood, it is legit scary, so creepy even when nothing is happening. Finally getting the hang of how it wants you to play, really enjoying it. Streaming again in 30 minutes, come see the freaks!
PoE 3.16 out in three hours. If you’re looking for me over the next few days/weeks, that’s where I’ll be, dead to the world.
Ghazzy’s Dark Pact, it’s like ED/Contagion but with charging skellies and much much better boss damage. Layers of defense that spread damage taken to over 4 seconds and then regenerating with Vampirism and Infused Flesh. He built the PoB with completely bargain gear and still clocks 5M+ DPS.
I'm sure this is a popular question but what's a decent off the shelf gaming computer just to get going? Even a laptop is fine. Just something to be able to play of games but not really interested in investing in high performance. I don't have a lot of gaming time but flexibility of a computer just for gaming is intriguing.
So my laptop died. All I ever play is league of legends and sometimes wow. Looking to get a pc. I’m leaning trying to scoop one off Facebook or something but that seems questionable. Here are some I found
If you're willing to spend 1700 I wouldn't buy used I saw a 3060 pre-built for $1350 at best buy yesterday
I haven't finished RE:8, so can't speak to that one at $60 - but RE:7 at $10 seems like a great deal. Fall Guys is probably worth $10 if people are still playing, I play that with my daughter every few weeks and we love it.
I've been playing Timberborn the last couple days. Last night I stayed up until 2am. It's basically a city-builder game, but you play as a beaver. The water mechanics are really cool to play with. You build dams to make sure you can make it through the draught. One of the most fun things is just trying to get your colony to a new spot to build a dam. It's an early access game, but I've started to really enjoy playing early access because It's nice to help support developers and you actually have the potential to help make the game better. It's currently over a 95% on Steam with 5,000+ reviews
no clue really. Just looking to replace my laptop that died and looking for deals on marketplace. I’d like something halfway decent with dual monitors. Mainly play league
yeah I had a laptop that I shared with worked issued shitty monitors and had a usb switch to switch my peripherals. It died though. It had an 1070 in it but obviously laptop version is weaker. Wouldn’t mind finding a 3070 or 3060 ti. Worth a few decent 144hz 27 inch monitors
I bought an Alienware a year and a half ago for and got no interest. Got a nice rig and it never hurt my wallet.
I know I'm late to the party but me and the buds have been playing the shit out of Valheim. So much fun.
I know. I never stay up late playing games like I did in college...until this game. I always have this huge plan to dam up everything, but get hung up or distracted and have a bunch of little baby dams. One thing I never realized until yesterday with the districts. You can just start a random district near the edge of the map where water comes out of and then move beavers from your main one to it and pretty much start all over (water, food, etc.) and then build a dam. I started doing that yesterday, but still waiting on my maple trees to grow in. Tip - dynamite around the edges of any river and it will pool there so your plants can stay nurished through a drought. - You can put electrical underwater. I run little channels through my land that are 2 deep (dynamite) and then put a floor for the electrical to sit on and then a path on top. It makes it so almost all of your land is arable.
Timberborn - What faction do you like playing as? I like the metal ones (2nd option you can pick). The fact that you can stack their log storage is awesome. And the water plants can go down 6tiles.
correct just want them to have the same look for work going back and fourth as I had two different ones and it annoyed the shit out of me
Oh no. I downloaded just even the demo of Factorio and I stayed up until 2:30. This could become problematic.
Played Timberborn past midnight again. I don't even really have a goal other than to keep expanding. I'm over 500 beavers and my computer slows down when I am on 3x speed and move around.
They have a new contest map that would be great for a beginner to play on because it has bountiful trees/water/metal. The reccomended starting map is probably my favorite though because it give you everything you need to be successful, but they aren't close to your initial town center. If you play, don't forget to have enough water stored. They drink 3 water each day and on easy the drought is 3 days so you need 9 water saved for every beaver. Or just dam up the river and you should be good. Make sure you get the tree planting upgrade though so you can plant trees, otherwise you're screwed without wood and have to start over.
It's only like $15 and definitely worth it to me. I bought Age of Empires 2 bc it was on sale for Halloween. I may start playing it. I haven't played any of them before and I know I like games similar to it.
I suck at AOE2. I tried 3 times in Africa to win and couldn't on Standard. I then tried South America and played as Incas. I restarted 4 times before finally winning. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I think the fact that I can't ever pause messes w my head. I know that I'm leaving people idle all the damn time. I try to keep making villagers at the TC, but I constantly run out of food, or am being attacked and need resources to protect myself. Any basic tips on how many soldiers needed to take a fort or other tips that aren't just - first 6 get food, then wood then be god tier.
Play the black forest map. It is naturally very wooded, giving you great cover and the enemy can only attack from a few passages. If you build walls to block that artery, you'll keep massive enemy armies at bay. I've actually won on the hardest difficultly doing this. another strategy is to, right out of the gate, get 15 villagers and set them to farming and gathering the immediate food sources (forage bushes, sheep, possilby other stuff) to make even more villagers at the beginning. if you're really struggling, use the cheat codes to pad your balances to get better at equipping yourself.
As a long time AOE2 player, you need to learn keybinds to help increase your play speed. The game is all about macro vs micro. Learn macro first by understanding you need villagers to win and lots of them. Typically dark age is what sets up your game and depending on how many villagers you have when you go feudal directly corresponds to your plan to win. I would recommend playing random maps against the computer but not on Black Forest. BF teaches you poor habits. Start with easiest setting for AI and work your way up to standard. Arabia and Yucatán are good maps. I would recommend playing Mongol (hunting bonus as well as strong archer civ), French (strong cavalry civ and free max farms), or Chinese (great all around civ). Its a highly complex game and takes a long time to even feel comfortable playing but it’s super fun and rewarding when you put the time in. I bought the first iteration back in like 1997/1998. It was one of my first PC games. AOE2 is one of the greatest RTS games ever.
I played the beta and thought it was good for the series. AoE3 was trash in my opinion and AoE4 gets out of wall meta, shortens games, and is a huge change of pace. I don’t like that I had to learn new hot keys and I also don’t like that arrows never miss. Other than that, it’s a breath of fresh air. I haven’t bought the full game yet because frankly I don’t have the time I used to, but I enjoy watching streamers play it because it’s way more dynamic than AoE2 in terms of early aggression and tactics.
