do i even still like these podcasts? honestly it's unclear. i think i've been listening for so long that i don't even care anymore
I don't follow Clay Travis's picks at all but I respect if he's actually picking individual games instead of Bill's method of doing dopey teasers that no real gambler would ever endorse
if i didn't have this thread or the BS subreddit i'd probably tap out on most of them. It's like watching modern wrestling for me, occasionally there's something I like but it's mostly done now out of habit. Luckily this thread realizes Bill has lost his mind because the pro wrestling thread seems ready to erect a statue for Tony Khan and won't stand for any criticism of AEW in the slightest.
As a writer it was good for its time (early 2000s) because his pop culture references were both a novelty and also not super dated at the time. The Ramblings would occasionally make me laugh and mailbags were always worth a look, ditto his running diaries. It's easier to listen to a homer when their team isn't winning titles because they at least get their comeuppance. The Boston teams winning titles gave Boston fans this inflated sense of expertise on all the sports, Pats fans especially think that because they root for Belichick they understand football better than anybody else.
I’ve tried reading Bill and his meandering sentences are terrible to me. I realize many enjoy it, but it’s just not my cup of tea.
tom hanks is pretty interesting and his voice sounds the same as it did when i was younger so i don't have to see how he (and i) have aged from when i learned of "tom hanks, awesome actor"
Went out after work and winding down, looking for a pod to fall asleep to. title: what if everyone team had their own Marcus smart lmao ok with this dogshit podcast network
Thinking people would be interested in you gambling fake money may be the most narcissistic thing Bill's ever done.
I think that was trolling. He hates Rodgers (because of Brady). So he loves seeing things play out like this
Hour and a half football podcast and zero talk about the Titans who have played the hardest schedule in the NFL and have the best record in the AFC. 5-4 Patriots got about 15 minutes though
Buddy, if you actually want to hear your team talked about, listen to another podcast. also, sorry to the titans, but on a day with the cowboys / Bills / saints loss and the packers madness, it just wasn’t gonna get top billing. Also, Bill doesn’t want to acknowledge teams in the AFC who are better than the pats
Seeing this thread bumped made me realize I’m not sure the last time I listened to a ringer podcast was.
so Odell "isn't a winning player" because he's only been in 1 playoff game? Guess we should kick Calvin Johnson out of Canton considering he only played in 2 playoff games, dude sucks!
also using his own standards, Randy Moss is the 2nd best WR of all time and he never won a Super Bowl! No clutch gene!
So funny how Simmons and Ryen pretty much exist on the same plane and release the same amount of pods a week covering similar topics. But go about it totally differently. bill spends every Monday overreacting to the results, altering his power rankings / echelons based on who won and lost the day before, ignoring the results from 8 days ago. Which is, let’s be honest, part of why we love listening to the Monday pod (even if it is a hate listen). ryen, on the other hand, starts his show talking about all the wacky upsets in the NFL. Runs through them, pretty much says sometimes results mean something, and other times they are just a blip. Ended the segment by saying “maybe in a few weeks we just look back and say, 'week 9 sure was weird.’” he is like a take palate cleanser. I know it is Ryen’s schtick to never overreact. Just funny listening to them back to back.
It took one loss for him to start talking shit about the Cowboys again "Your stupid team" as if their season is now over if only Sal had the balls to tell him to suck his dick and show some backbone for once, you finally have a season where the Cowboys are better and you take it easy on him smh
I know we bring up Ryen and Bill mostly, but do others think Logan Murdoch is the worst person on a ringer podcast? Idk for sure Bc I don’t listen to all the pods, but gosh is he horrible. Only reason I skip around real ones is for Raja. They should really re-pair Raja.
Truly like a kid brother sidekick and I don’t honestly think I can remember him making salient points. Today he was using some weird logic about resources at a public school vs private school in talking about tatum and jaylen brown. Also, when I used to listen to them more last season he’d repeat a few corny words/phrases that just made me roll my eyes.
maybe not the worst person but he definitely sucks, tries wayyyy too hard when it comes to talking about being from the Bay Area, yet he's a Laker fan?? Nothing says Bay Area pride like rooting for an LA team
pretty sure POWE was a Warriors fan wasn't he? I feel like him and Patface were the only real Warrior fans on this board early on
Glad I got to hear Chris Vernon speculate on the types of ppl Jimmy butler prob has fought in his life. Chris and KOC should just said BAD HOMBRES while they spent too much time on that tangent.
