We had 9 guys because our 10th was hunting in a remote area and couldn’t get reception so he asked out. It’s our 1st time for the league.
ah, i see, I thought maybe it would be off NCAA finish. Some names off the top of my head: 125: Suriano. Not enrolled anywhere currently, if he's still available, obviously.... 141: Dresden Simon 149: Think you may be out of luck here, I don't think Hunter Lewis is starting. I imagine Tariq Wilson will be bumping up to 149, but I said the same thing last year. Legend Lamer could be a good grab. 165: Tanner Cook. Get him now. Thank me later. 197: Braxton Amos (not ranked anywhere), Isaac Trumble (ranked way too low)
Just got Cook so thank you now and later. I dropped Beard. Lamar is available, who else would you drop. I love college wrestling, have no clue compared to your insight. So thanks.
yikes. Ohio State just announced their wrestle-offs. Echemendia, D'Emilio, and Decatur are all at 141. Looks like they may be punting 133. Don't think D'Emilio or Decatur can make it there, and if Echemendia could, he'd be there already. Also of note is Rocky Jordan at 184.
I read that Decatur has no chance at 133 anymore. If rocky is at 184 one of Romero, Smith, Jordan and Karchla are out, right?
I'm assuming it's going to be a low-scoring match, which favors Rocky, but I do think Romero takes it.
Hokies intrasquad is Friday evening. Nothing released yet in terms of matchups. Probably won’t know till it’s time to roll. Think most of the lineup is pretty well set. Think we see legit matches for 141, 157, 165 and 197.
What happened to echemendia since coming to Ohio? He must have had some good Cuban drugs or something that he's missing? Seems to be a bit much to be just TaTo
Could be a few things, he doesn't have a whole lot of experience in folkstyle is the biggest of them. He's shown flashes for sure, wrestling James Green tight in freestyle. He's also packing a ton of muscle obviously, and that might not exactly help him late in matches, and it tends to show. But I'd like to think that Jordan Decatur is the best 141 in the country.
Johnny Lovett at 157 for CMU is a dude Still bumming that Hildebrandt decided against wrestling one more year back in September
No official word yet, would imagine him and Paddy Gallagher are dinged up and no reason to have them wrestle now.
Hokies intrasquad tonight. No word on matchups. Still seems like we only have a couple contested weights. Will be interesting to see if any of our main guys wrestle. They’ve done some “fun” matches for those guys before, like Bolen vs Mekhi in FS when Mekhi was ORS.
Might not go out of the gate, but I'd be shocked if he's not the starter come January (assuming he's healthy).
Men's Greco went 5-13 at U23, which would have been a huge improvement over Cadet and Junior worlds, but 3 of those 5 wins were via forfeit. Only Taylor Lamont and Nick Boykin won a match out of our 10 guys...sad.
Only one I have access to is Flo and I'm not sure how great their rankings are at the moment. 1. Jesse Mendez---Ohio State 2. Nick Feldman---Ohio State 3. Nic Bouzakis---Ohio State 4. Caleb Henson---Virginia Tech 5. Dylan Fishback---NC State 6. Brian Soldano---Rutgers 7. Levi Haines---Pen State 8. Casey Swiderski---Iowa State 9. Ryan Crookham---Lehigh 10. Joey Cruz---Oklahoma 11. Rylan Rogers---Michigan 12. Anthony Ferrari---Oklahoma State 13. Manuel Rojas---Iowa State 14. Matt Singleton---NC State 15. James Rowley---Wisconsin 16. Jordan Williams---Oklahoma State 17. Zeke Seltzer---Missouri 18. Troy Spratley---Minnesota 19. Seth Shumate---Ohio State 20. Jackson Arrington---NC State I feel like Dylan Fishback might be a little high and Matt Singleton/Jackson Arrington a little low, but either way, NC State has a dynamite recruiting class. They also have #22 Chase Horne to form a big 4 as well as #72 Finn Solomon.
Jesse really excited about wrestling with Bouzakis, thinks they're going to make each other better. Big factor in his recruitment. Also excited about wrestling with Paddy Gallagher. Jesse says he plans on starting his Buckeye career at 141 and wrestling FS at 65kg. It was previously thought he might start his career at 133 and end up at 141. Might be an issue with Bouzakis who is also considered a 141 by fans.
Flo is doing a top 100 US Wrestlers of all time ranking. I love this shit. Not including women, this would be my top 8, which includes FIVE active wrestlers. Seven or eight guys (Schultz x2, Brands x2, KJ, Kenny Monday, Cael, Dan Gable) could be considered for the 9-10 spots imo. 1. John Smith - Not a no-doubter anymore with JB finally reaching 6 combined world titles, but he still has my #1 spot. 6 Golds (2 Olympic Gold), 2X NCAA Champ 2. Jordan Burroughs - He's close. 6 Golds (1 Olympic Gold), 3 bronze, 2X NCAA Champ 3. Bruce Baumgartner - Most medals by an American with THIRTEEN! 5 Golds, 4 Silver, 4 Bronze (2 Olympic Gold, 1 Olympic Silver, 1 Olympic Bronze), 1X NCAA Champ 4. Kyle Snyder - If not for Sadulaev he might be #1 on this list--All 3 silver losses to The Russian Tank. 3 Golds, 3 Silver, 1 Bronze (1 OG, 1 OS), 3X NCAA Champ 5. Kyle Dake - Going to have to win multiple world titles to move up on this list imo, which is crazy. 3 Golds, 1 Bronze (1 OB), 4X NCAA Champ 6. Lee Kemp - What hurts him most is something he had no control over, the '80 boycott. He would have won it. Also could/should have been 4x'er. 3 Golds, 1 Bronze, 3X NCAA Champ 7. J'den Cox - H2H wins and extra NCAA title has Cox over DT by a HAIR for now. 2 Golds, 2 Bronze (1 OB), 3X NCAA Champ 8. David Taylor - Lots of upward mobility here, can get up to #2 by the end of the cycle. 2 Golds, 1 Silver (1 OG), 2X NCAA Champ From here, the Mark and Dave Schultz lose points because I don't weigh their '84 Olympic Golds as heavily, Kenny Monday loses points because of his collegiate losses to Nate Carr, Kevin Jackson for his collegiate career and 0 titles, Cael for not competing internationally, both Brands took a handful of losses, etc. 9. Mark Schultz - Didn't start wrestling until his JR year of HS, went 3-8, and became one of the greatest ever. 3 Golds (1 OG*), 3X NCAA Champ 10. Cael Sanderson - Greatest college wrestler of all time. 1 Gold, 1 Silver (1 OG), 4X NCAA Champ I imagine I have Cael a little higher than most people. I feel good about my top 8 though. Maybe Schultz could be above Cox/Taylor.

Anthony Madrigal for Oklahoma just beat Dylan Ragusin, Ravon Foley, and Lucas Byrd today. That should propel him from outside the top 20 into the top 10.
Lucas Davison bumps up to HWT for NW and beats Top 20 guys in Luffman and Heindselman. Troy Fisher, who went 1-10 (!) for NW in his True FR season for NW last year beats qualifier Mason Kaufman from Northern Ill, DJ Shannon of ILL, and then majors (!) Mantanona of Oklahoma.
1. Jesse Mendez 2. Nick Feldman 3. Nic Bouzakis 19. Seth Shumate 45. Luke Geog NR. Gavin Brown Geog fills a major need for depth at 74/84 after Smith and Romero graduate.
