Facebook memory prompted one of our posters to look up some Tom O’Brien stats from his time in Raleigh. He’s got a remarkable record for several reasons, including being 0-13 in ACC road games to start his Pack career.
TOB was a little like Roy in that sense. He 100% bought into the rivalry and made sure players did too. Plus the academic scandal stuff gave him a very high horse to look down from.
My favorite TOB stat is the last one listed. Beating top 5 FSU while losing to 2-6 UVA by 27 in the same season is remarkable.
honestly not sure whether UVA's offense is more of an affront to the senses here or on the hardwood rn
acc network's so thirsty for acceptance that a hook for the post game show is Lebron tweeting about them
thank you fran, didn't want the responsibility of keeping state out of the title game to fall on unc's shoulders
Keep thinking about how those wake nerd students are about to enjoy a conference championship in football
Technically we aren’t eliminated yet. If we win out (@ Cuse, UNC) and Wake loses out (. @ Clemson, @ BC) we’d advance I think.
Up to over 20 players out for the year now. Plus the 5 injured yesterday and others that were held out.
Thursday Louisville (-19) @ Duke (7:30, ESPN) Saturday Wake Forest @ Clemson (-5) (WTF?) (noon, ESPN) FSU @ Boston College (-3) (noon, ACC) Wofford @ UNC (noon, The Ocho) Georgia Tech @ Notre Dame (-18) (2:30, NBC) Virginia @ Pittsburgh (-11) (3:30, ESPN2) Syracuse @ NC State (-10) (4, ACC) Virginia Tech @ Miami (-6) (7:30, ACC)
Feels like Clemson is still far and away the most talented team in the conference even with 1/3 of the roster missing. Venables will work his magic and limit wake. Wake no longer has a defense to speak of. Clemson wins.
Just in the last game Ross, DJU, and Phommachanh, the backup QB got hurt. Also Xavier Thomas our starting DE.
And prior to all this, Clemson did not have the offense to stay on the field with WF. Not to mention the inferior coaching and just general softness.
