Welcome sir. Thread is generally pretty dead, outside a few of us, other than majors. However I like when we have those experts in here, livens it up a bit. In terms of your comment, men’s tennis pretty much blows. I hope we have a general step up in talent here soon. Generally what I do is watch them from semis on during non majors. Otherwise I think we’re at the point where Medvedev and Djoker are meeting in the semis or finals. Outside that there’s a next tier if they fall out or are injured. Again I hope a few more step up next season but I’m not holding my breath. Women are so deep it’s incredible. Every large tournament there’s the potential for over 30 women to win it all. Going to be hard to narrow it down to just a few but good news is you don’t need to wait long for a great match on that side. I know you mentioned breaks in the gambling thread, if you like breaks, they won’t let you down. I also find them to be the easiest to bet. I should say I have the best luck, also easiest to see meltdowns for live betting if you like that.
This might be a new little rivalry with Garbine and Barbora. I forgot they played in US Open and thats when Barbora got fatigued and hurt and Garbine was ready beat her.
Totally an aesthetics thing, but the women playing the Finals outside this year is so much better than some bland, dark, cavernous indoor arena like we usually get for all the tour finals.
She actually played Venus in the tennis scenes I found out on Twitter. Here is her and sloane. Good lord.
What can anyone tell me about Ben Shelton other than being a Florida grad. I have watched him wreck a few matches this week and seems like he was or still is pretty good on the collegiate circuit. Same last name as me so that is the only thing that initially got me following a couple of his matches. Will he be worth following in the majors or is he still a few years away if at all?
He’s awesome. Still really young, played #5 singles for the Gators last year as a frosh, won the clinching match for the team Natty. Big lefty serve and forehand, an absolute electric factory energy wise. Reminds me a lot of the best of Nick Kyrgios in that respect. Definitely still years away, but he’s one to watch whenever you get the chance. Fun, fun player.
Also just made me think of one of my favorites of all time, Li Na. I went and looked her up and remember when she won the Aussie Open. Then saw it was against Cibulkova. Cibulkova dropped like a bag of rocks when she was solid for 3-4 years. Then by 27 she was a complete mess. Always fun to watch
Serena bringing up Indian wells in 2001. I think it’s pretty much given that they decided who won the batch beforehand. But the same treatment she got at Indian wells and has complained about, is the same thing she caused Naomi to get and start her mental problems
Don't we have a poster that lives over in China, I wonder what is being said over there about it, probably nothing though. I'm trying to think of the poster's name...
Well ya, why would she talk about “Chinese tennis becoming better and better” at a time like this. So weird
Think it’s a Nebraska fan, BWC maybe Nice statement from the leaders tonight, can’t put money before this.
Yeah, Baron pm'd me shortly after his post. As I told him, I heard some mention of strange goings on with a tennis player (in hindsight, this was likely shock at her accusation, not her disappearance), but otherwise, not much. With sensitive situations involving the Party, things still get talked about plenty, just in coded ways, which is even more difficult to pick up on through translated conversations. I'll keep an eye out in my Moments though.
Not completely surprised if I'm being honest. Zverev seems to be able to work out the Djokovic puzzle right at the moment.
You just watch - he'll eventually suck it up and get vaxxed. Being 'the greatest ever' means too much to his enormous ego.
saw a few weeks ago that Kenin added her Dad back on her team..sounds like she has been going through some things hope she gets back to playing consistently, enjoy watching her playing style and how she irritates opponents
Great win for Andy. Know he’s been messing around with a new racket and frame, certainly worked today.
