The Road to Now is a great topical history podcast by two history professors that are from the south.

They typically interview a historian about either a relevant topic of the day or a subject that can stand on its own. For example, they just did one about the history of corn syrup and sugar and its racist origins. They typically run for 45 minutes to an hour.

anyone listen to Very Bad Wizards? discussions on moral philosophy through the context of academic papers / movies / tv shows / books. I'll throw it on if there's an author or topic that I really enjoy.

Have also started listening to How To Save a Planet and a couple other climate related podcasts. That one is very NPR-esque and is more storytelling. Energy Gang is a good one that is more technical about different clean tech.

I’ve been listening to the Revelations podcast recommended on here. At the risk of sounding ignorant and unenlightened about issues regarding male sexual abuse, I’m having a difficult time buying the stories of at least some of the victims. Or, at the least, buying that they are straight guys who got coerced into gay sex. I know it ‘s bad on some level to stereotype but some of those guys don’t sound exactly “not gay,” and I suspect what the cult leader is really preying on is guys who are at the least bi-curious and in denial.

It's a perfect example of the bumbling empire trope - the greatest killing force to ever exist just sort of falls ass backwards into an illegal invasion.

The first season of Blowback takes a much more anti-imperialist view of the war

Downloaded The Shrink Next Door for my Thanksgiving travels. Any other similar podcasts people have liked (Similar to Dr. Death, Dear John, etc.)

I heard on NPR's pop culture happy hour the other night that they thought the pod was way better than the show, so I decided to listen to the pod first and then see if I wanted to give the show a try.

In general, I kind of hate Wondery podcasts, which all feel over produced and corny. But they have great stories.

i was on split zone duo until Godfrey wouldn't shut the fuck up about all his coaching/program connections that he has. For CFB, I like Cover 3 but only the episodes without Kanell. It's funny for how much CFB coverage there is, there isn't a podcast I really like.

I think Godfrey is great. My issue w Split Zone was Richard. He’s always come off as a try hard to show how much of a scheme guy he is. But I’ve come around on him.

I like that and Cover 3 for National cfb.

Radio Rental this week, 2nd story (~16:30) when he’s talking about plans for V-Day. He’s like “we were really into (eno?) and hammock, so I got her a hammock. I thought it would be fun, something we could do with our friends.”

What is he talking about? I was perplexed just picturing a bunch of friends hanging and laying in a single hammock together. Doesn’t add up.

Each friend or couple has their own hammock. You’d go hang out in a park or hike into some wooded area and chill for the day or camp in them.

On a related note, glad the season is over. I’m just hate-listening at this point. The first story was so dumb. Not even remotely scary or freaky.

I still like every episode. I think it's just the production and the fact that it's story telling versus comedy (other than Rainn's part, which I don't like at all). That said, I agree, the content was much better in season 1. Does anyone know of shows similar or better?

Also, did anyone else listen to Firebug?

Ive begun to sour on that podcast. Robert is a pretty awesome dude, but Ive noticed all his friends try to imitate his speech patterns with the 'um, yeah' awkward pauses.

Sophie does it. Garrison really does it. Idk why it annoys me so much but it does. His cohosts on Worst Year Ever are the worst offenders. Im getting to the point where I'll listen if the topic is interesting, but will skip if not. That podcast use to be a priority for me. Kind of sad
