Apparently both Jimmy Johnson and Tom Landry only won one game in their first season with the cowboys
Do you have any tips how to deal with being a fan of a losing football program? I’ve reached the acceptance stage.
It’s actually awesome. The performance of the team and the game itself just becomes secondary to everything else. When you attend, it’s all about the people you’re with and the rest of the game day experience. The players become just kids, and they’re easy to root for as perpetual underdogs in the face of their mercenary opponents. Opposing fan bases of winning teams seem under evolved. Like they care too much and it’s weird. When you get a win, it’s amazing and usually results in lots of crying and embarrassment from said mercenaries and entitled fans. You get a lot of: “Oh hey. My team is playing? I didn’t realize that” moments. Unplanned bonus fun, because winning is cool and losing is expected. Free to watch good teams play and appreciate the action without having to concern yourself with stressful subplots about how the outcome could impact your team’s title hopes or recruiting Source: also an Arizona fan
If I live to be 1000 years old I will never understand ESPNs FPI rankings, but Texas is #25 three spots below #22 Florida.
I think preseason and recruiting rankings get baked so hard into the FPI formula that they're hard to wash out.
I will not be making fun of Texas any further until at least 3pm eastern tomorrow. Please respect my decision
He gets his 15 minutes of fame plus a few bucks in his pocket for a commercial. That's better than 99% of walkons. Only wish it was a place with better food.
