Watching Angola-Egypt but since we don't have a CAF thread, figured I'd put this here. Angola fans look like a lot of fun
They are danish pretty much. they are under danish government. But they liked to not roll over against us.
Well you could've said they're violent separatists. I am not too shocked by this though. Fucking Danish and their niceness.
Awful draw for the Netherlands who blew a 2-0 lead in the last 10 minutes. Now instead of being qualified they have to win to guarantee qualification, while a draw could mean 1st or 2nd, and a loss would mean 2nd or 3rd.
I’ll never understand why countries like Kazakhstan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, etc choose to be doormats in UEFA rather than have an actual shot in Asia
Money, prestige, possibly convenience (less so Kazakhstan, but that a lot of even more shitty travel from Georgia/Azerbaijan), indifference as to actual results since it’s not like they’re going to qualify from AFC, either probably could have stopped at money
Playoffs seem much more open than in the old format. Have to win a one-legged semi-final and final rather than the old two-legged match-up. Less margin for error in one match.
Going to be real fun. Was reading about it now. 10 group runners-up and top 2 from Nations League that didn’t finish top 2 in WCQ. So Austria is getting 1 of those spots.
Qualified (10): Serbia Spain Switzerland France Belgium Denmark Netherlands Croatia England Germany Play-off (3): Portugal Sweden Italy Ukraine Wales Scotland Turkey Russia Poland North Macedonia Austria (UNL) Czech Republic (UNL)
they can’t be drawn against each other, which on one hand is obvious but from 5000 miles away is a bummer
