Fair enough. He can thump his chest. Its happened with the Jacobs crew and that doesn't look so great a few seasons in now.

Just doing some quick research and I think I would rank the rookie WRs right now...

    Chase
    Waddle
    Bateman
    Brown
    Smith

I also mentioned how Pitts would be my WR1 so he also would be ahead of Smith if were talking all receiving players.

Corral is good imo. Durability is a big issue though.

None of the knocks I had against Smith had to do with separation or body control. More into an evaluation than production at the college level.

what about production at the NFL level?

The same Bateman who has played in a total of 4 games with a whopping 18 catches for 241 yards and 0 TD’s?

I like to look at things like y/rr or recv and both those would indicate Smith isn't as good as the gents I listed. Toney would also be above him but he's got the issue of low games played + one monster output that could be skewing stats given the small sample size.

All this is small sample convo and why I said let's chat this up in a couple of seasons.

toney may be the best receiver in the NFL he’s just held back by the judge/garrett brain trust

using y/rr as your main evaluation metric explains a lot.

I haven’t been here stumping for Corral, because of course he’s my guy.

He’s come a helluva long way these last three years and he’s not the largest guy. But that being said he hasn’t had his top three receivers almost the entire year and he has literally been carrying the team on his back at times.

I don’t think he’s going to be running the ball 12.6 times a game in the NFL like he has been so far this year. Which should prevent some of these lower body injuries he’s been dealing with.

By Brown, you mean Dyami Brown who hasn't done much of anything of note so far his rookie year? It's ok to have a bad take and realize you're wrong. You don't have to dig in like this.

    maybe St Brown? Idk

just go by what the advance scouts and the nfl game tape says

it has all translated from college exactly like you would have expected, especially the ability to separate through precise route running. elite footwork at the line. production to match. kid is special

y/rr is hilarious because there’s been about 10 uncatchable passes thrown his way when he’s wide open but Jalen throws up on himself

I'd lean Smith over Bateman, but I don't think it is a big gap between the two (and I'd have them on the same tier), and using this season's stats to support Smith over Bateman I don't think makes too much sense given that Bateman was hurt to start the season.

On a per game basis, Bateman is averaging 4.5 catches and 60.25 yards per game, while Smith is averaging 4.2 catches and 60.3 yards per game. Damn near identical. Only difference is with the touchdowns. Could say that Bateman is an advantage with Lamar as is QB over Hurts, but Bateman also has more competition for targets - Hollywood and Andrews are more productive players than any pass catchers that are alongside Smith on the Eagles.

Yeah that's the big kicker. I love me so Jalen man but he is just straight butt throwing the ball downfield. Smith is doing remarkable for what he is given right now. I'm pretty frustrated at the situations that Waddle, Smith, and Jeudy have found themselves in. Want to see them get paired with some really good QBs

Hurts is just really inconsistent throw to throw. He’s gotten better as they’ve stopped having him throw 50 times a game, he’s not built for that and most likely won’t ever be. Last week was the best he’s looked yet, I’ll take that level of play moving forward

Agreed, I think he ran 30 times for 195 in that game though so hopefully he is not asked to do that at the next level or he will literally be killed.

Williams seems like a 4.6 type that is tough as hell who could be a very good 3rd-4th round pick

yeah, he seems a little slow for the nfl but many successful rbs are not burners either. His size is not ideal but his balance is incredible and he is a very good pass catcher.

3-4 seems right unless someone falls in love with him or i buy a nfl team between now and the draft.

  34. He is the best rb ND has had since Julius Jones and can block and catch passes. Should be a 2nd rounder.

He does a lot of things well. I don't know how high he should go, but given health I'm confident he'll be around for a long time in the league. When you can block like he can and catch the ball out of the backfield there is a spot on a roster as a third down back at a minimum.

I said I would prefer Smith over Bateman. I don't see why it is ridiculous to say that they are in the same ballpark though. I would still consider Chase the top WR if I had to choose one going forward, but I don't have a problem with any order of Smith/Bateman/Waddle as WRs 2-4 in the class (and for the record, Smith would be first among those three for me). And then I think there is a pretty significant drop off after those four.

    St. Brown

lol… after what 10 years of this shit you know this is what I do.

I think at one point prior to the draft I said something along those lines. I don’t believe he was 11th on my final rankings after the combine and pro days. I generally will post pre and post rankings as athletic traits are a big factor with skill position.

Thanks sir… sometimes I’m loved for not crushing a guy like Mack Jones and other times people hate me for my take on Jacobs. Sometimes people think I’m insane for liking Josh Allen at DE over a Bosa. It’s all subjective and I’ll crush some evaluations and miss badly on others. No biggie

    I like Williams.

    Breece Hall
    Walker
