iirc Biden breakdown said IRS funding would net $400 billion so that's probably why the house said lets go this matches the prior agreement
cause I was talking to my dentist’s receptionist in vague terms about UBI and decoupling health insurance from employment to sneak socialism into her brain inception-style.
Sooo thus far a net positive for the budget of $23 billion, not including any GDP multiplier figures...
Idk the difference between incompetence and willful fuckery. But man Dems look dumb as fuck at almost every turn.
Yep. At least give it a catchy name that describes something about it. Would be scary to hear a man in the street interview asking people what they thought was in the bills. Ted Lieu is not wrong about the avg voter being a dumb beast. But how are you going to get credit for what you passed if you don't toot your own horn? And people aren't so dull that they wouldn't sit up and take notice if you hammered the same bullet points day after day. Not much chance of that happening.
Dems need to incept Rs into advertising some part of the bill on Fox News as some culture war bullshit and trick them into doing the messaging, they’re way better at it
It continues to be wild that such a massive political party can be so inept at politics. Then again there are plenty of pro sports teams that are inept at their sport so maybe I shouldn't be so surprised
As others have mentioned, the American public is generally far less informed and educated than we want to believe. Having to dumb down everything at some point becomes self defeating as it dilutes the message. BBB is a perfect example of this. And yes, the GOP is far better playing this game because when you don't have any real ideas and just grievances and hysteria to sell, it is very easy to do so. Since they don't actually have to build anything, they need only denegrate ideas using pithy catch phrases (Socialism!) and baseless lies. To an uninquisitive electorate, this is far easier a sell than trying to convince them to actually come around to a new idea or to do something different. In other words, it's a huge fucking uphill battle and the Dems often don't make it any easier on themselves.
is this gonna be one of those things where he speaks til 3am and then complains that "they passed this in the middle of the night!"
That CIA spook needs to cease to exist, fuck her and blaming protesters for causing just a slight moment of angst for suburban wine moms and as to why she almost lost her reelection in 2020.
At this point, every day that passes without publicly pressuring Sinema and Manchin (and whomever else is privately supporting the filibuster) and calling them complicit in the rise of fascism is a day completely wasted by Biden.
I hate how much I enjoy that McCarthy’s stunt just allowed the Democrats to pass it in the daylight, and he wasted all that blubbering.
Historic event where 1) a woman and a woman of color has presidential powers and 2) I know that the president has something deep in his ass.
