Business partner works for a hotel and had an event that Ally Love was hosting or whatever and said in his many years of working with all sorts of celebrities and nearly all more famous than her she was the worst to ever work with. Her first words to him were "Do you know who I am?" So yeah that didn't surprise me one bit.
I don’t have a membership, there’s a community gym in my neighborhood and they have the bike. Up until a few weeks ago, my account stayed signed into the bike and I was attached to that membership, so I could use the app. It seems like the management group cleared some setting to where it doesn’t save profiles anymore, so it no longer shows that I’m under that membership. I’m not entirely sure if that’s the case or why they would do that, but that’s all that I can surmise
The wife is already partially on board with going all in with our own bike next year, waiting (hoping) to see if my Chase credit card extends its Peloton monthly credit before we make a move
Made fun of my gf for buying one earlier this year, but she’s followed through, loved it and and surprised me with a pair of shoes for my bday and have done 5 classes in the past week. Always thought I had pretty good endurance, but my cocky ass got wrecked by Olivia. Switched to some 20 mins beginner classes til I build some tolerance.
I feel like Olivia was not that hard like a year or two ago. Now I think she just wants to bring pain.
Someone needs to rank the hardest instructor rides. Kendall and Olivia are my death wish rides. Emma for a nice middle level. Leanna when I just want to chill.
I’ve only done a couple of Kendall rides because she doesn’t shut the fuck up, so my opinion is just based on the few that I’ve done.
Hard is really what you make it. I guess if you strictly follow instructors it matters a little but I guess other than the amount of cadence pushes or climbs I think any ride can be challenging or easy depending on what I do.
there is a 45 minute 90s ride from Emma which is basically a climb and hiit ride which as tough as anything Kendall does. IMO Jennifer Jacobs was the toughest woman instructor.
Tried to start a yoga class on the app on my phone. Keeps prompting to me to get a membership despite having one and it even showing on my profile as active. This a widespread issue right now?
Back when they had riders in studio, people would report back to Reddit about how bad she was on multiple occasions. I do miss Jacobs Peaks. Sometimes I go out too hard following the instructor, then start taking it easy then I start falling down the leaderboard or see a 50 yo pass me up and get pissed off so then I start getting after it again.....rinse and repeat.
when I say difficult I mean sticking at high end of what the instructor calls out. I try to stay on the high end of resistance and cadence. When I can’t stick to it is what I call difficult.
It's not a monthly credit; It's just a total of $60 or $120 statement credit depending which card you have.
we have fun here. But, ToooooBeeeeeFaaaIiiiiiiiRrrrrrrr they all talk a lot. My favorite is when they tell us for 10 minutes how they aren’t going to talk much because they love the music so much.
i think they all have their days. Certain rides call for a lot of chatter (especially the themed rides, like Kendall's emo rides). Other, harder rides often involve less talking. I don't really let it bother me anymore, but I do notice when someone keeps the talking to a minimum.
i really don’t notice the talking tbqh unless it’s a artist ride that I really want to take. Emma’s Cold Play and RHCP rides were great. Christine’s CC ride was really good. Jenn Sherman ruined Pearl Jam for me. Kendal’s Gwen Stephanie (sp) was really cool too. Usually I lower instructor and raise music volume. I’m okay with talking because it would be boring with just silence and music it’s why I take rides with people who’s personality I like. Emma is by far my favorite because (for me) she makes the time fly by the most.
I mean, they offer all these instructors for a reason. So people can enjoy their own Peloton experience. Unless someone is truly terrible, it doesn't really matter who you like most
you wonder why so many think you’re a douche. I think I need to remember that and honestly stop attempting to have civil conversations with you. I know it doesn’t matter who I like the most.
Can’t you guys just hit the “more music, less instructor” button on the volume controls? I do that and it works great. Still can hear them give instructions but the music is still louder.
what? that was a pretty simple and innocuous statement suggesting that everyone has a different preference.
Just finished week 4 of the mastering the basics challenge. The last ride of week 4 was with Kendall and holy fuck did she kick my ass. Every ride previous to her was mild to difficult, but she was on another level. What's the filter everyone uses or any recommendations for any good challenges also? Really enjoying the yoga on there, but haven't done any strength training yet.
the Hydrow has only ever been posted about in here anyone got one? good deal on them right now with free trial to the end of January. intrigued.
I finished Radiation therapy in early 2020, and haven't PR'ed since starting it in fall of 2019. My white blood cell counts stayed low until about 3 months ago when I finally crept back in the normal range. Finally starting to see some gains, and now getting back to finishing 45 and 60 minute rides regularly. I got a post radiation PR by 24 kj tonight in Dennis's 45 min Beatles ride (good ride, esp for Dennis). Even with that, my post radiation PR is still 140+ kj less than my pre-Radiation PR. It's incredible how much that kicked my ass health-wise. Not a big Beatles guy, but the Get Back ride had my kind of Beatles songs. Recommended. German cool down was fun, also. Leaderboard is German for leaderboard, by the way.
What class buzzword should I look for if I want more of a "heart health" workout (lower calorie burn)? Low impact? HRZ classes?
what do you mean by “heart health”? Not to be a dick but I’m essence all cardio is “heart health”. If you mean endurance do HRZ classes in zone 2-4. Low impact classes deal with that too. If you mean do HIIT and Tabata.
That was what it was called back in the day. Basically geared towards getting your heart rate elevated without maxing out calorie burn. Definitely not HIIT, but it does seem like the first two would make sense
If you have any questions, PM me. It’s a bit more complicated than worth getting into here, but it’s mainly based off your max heart rate (lots of ways to calculate that) and then zoning appropriately below that. It seems silly but I use an RPE (rate of perceived exertion) scale a lot for self modulation with patients. Basically a 0-10 scale and have a target to stay around.
Other than HRZ or longer low impact classes everything else will be hit or miss. The problem is you won’t know how the instructor will structure the class. I’ve taken 90s classes that are basically HIIT or Climb classes masquerading as music classes. There is a HRZ program I believe. I’d do that. I’ve never done it so IDK what it’s like.
HRZ Endurance rides are basically rides where you stay in zone 2 and 3 and stay out of the anerobic zone. It's basically where marathoners and tri athletes/Ironman do the majority of their training in. You maximize your HR and calorie burning potential while keeping your HR low enough to stay in those zones for hours. Also zones 2 and 3 are your fat burning zones. In theory.
One of the biggest problems with Peloton HRZ was that Christine was it's main coach, if I recall correctly. I think Jenn Jacobs did them, too, but she wasn't replaced on HRZ when she left. Christine plays music I like fairly often, but I just can't ride with her at all. Annoys the absolute shit out of me. I would like to spend more of my time doing these tempo rides at lower rates of exertion, but then I see some asshole on the leaderboard I have to chase. And, when I'm completely gassed after a ride I should've cruised through at tempo rather than pushing myself, I remember who the real asshole is.
