USA would sodomize Russia and it would work out perfectly as long as we didn’t try and rebuild their shit hole country.
I thought I read from Rand or similar that Russia would just obliterate the NATO air assets pretty quickly with just sheer overwhelming SAMs. I guess the big problem here is the US is not in Europe anymore- it’s not 1988 anymore. We’ve retreated out- this is NATO vs Russia with US long distance support in theory. I feel like it would be 6 months until the USA could project real force in Europe.
timo was in our group chat pumping Russian military propaganda telling us how scary their nuclear torpedos are, but after very little research it seems like that project is mostly propaganda.
same with hypersonics- Russia is definitely working on these items. But they aren’t a thing right now
yeah Ukraine gets rolled up pretty bad unless Uncle Joe steps in I’ll take our Naval assets over theirs
I can't find it but there was a good thread on Twitter a day or three ago about there being a water scarcity issue in Crimea because Ukraine dammed up the main aquaduct and things are coming to a head now.
Got it. Also if you aren't following this guy you are really missing out. Guy has great perspectives into global logistics, trade and geopolitics. I listened to him talk about the impacts of the Suez canal blockage for an hour the other day and it was riveting.
I wasn't pumping Russian propaganda, just that they have some weapons systems that they are developing that are scary. Also, for as much as you seem to be dismissing them, they could kill every single American in 30 minutes if they wanted to also be turned into ashes. Also, even if this stays a regional war between Ukraine and Russia, given the last, idk, thousand years of human history, any war in Europe is bad (because there's always another war right after the last one)
As the man said I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.
I mean, this is revisionist. You implied these systems are in use. And yes, a war in Europe is always bad, and I doubt once in motion that the Russian military stops with just Ukraine
The Putin shenanigans are going to be outrageous. This is what he’s been trying to prevent for decades.
Fuck Russia Fuck Putin his bitch ass won’t do anything real about it. His military outside of the S-400 is shit.
Too many members of NATO are dependent on Russia not shutting off natural gas pipelines. I’d be surprised if this actually happens.
The whole Navalny episode has caused his approval rating to plummet. He’s definitely going to do something in the near future that crosses a line that the international community can’t ignore.
This has always been my understanding. Russia has this hanging over Germany because of their Natgas pipelines right?
the "expand to survive" shit is directly lifted from Catherine the Great's rhetoric (Russia swallowed what was left of the kingdom of Lithuania, Belarus, and much of Poland during her reign)***. ***edit: just looked this up -- also a bunch of Ukraine, the Crimean Sultanate, and some other lands formerly under Ottoman hands. Also expanded eastward -- Alaska and such
didn’t Russians make the rule that the ruler had to be a man after her reign, later leading to the fall of the romanovs because Alexi’s blood was all shitty
Saw someone else saying basically the same thing -- the war will be fought for Russia to make sure NATO doesn't have it, and for NATO to make sure Russia doesn't have it. Apparently there is a rumor going around on Twitter and VK (Russian Facebook, essentially) that the Ministries of Defense and Education are ordering medical universities to prepare by Dec. 5 for an accelerated graduation of doctors during the "period of war."
