they looked fucking pathetic. Nothing about anything I was watching looked like a team coached by somebody that has any clue what the hell he is doing.
nothing humbles coaches better than the NFL, I swear. no cult of personality to be built, no legion of fans and boosters willing to wash your balls, no mass of teenagers to horde over in an unbalanced relationship where you hold all the cards. just an owner and fanbase who demand instant results or fuck you, you're trash, and a bunch of grown men making more money than you who will never be scared by anything you do.
Dbl: Yea over the last 50 years, Lions have it the worst. Last decade, Jags. And still like 30 less wins than the Lions. Fewer. And this is a terrible take. Lions have it way worse than the Jags. Arguably the two best to ever play their positions retired early from their franchise.
am i underselling calvin johnson if i say that jalen ramsey is in the same tier of player? ramsey hasnt done it quite as long (and has played half of his career in LA) but he's been CB1 for the better part of a decade now
At least the lions were watchable with Stafford and Johnson, and even without Johnson stafford was still throwing for 4000+ yards. In that time we were getting ocular cancer with the likes of Luke McCown, Blaine Gabbert, Chad Henne, Blake Bortles, and Gardner Minshew. Yeah we had one year where our defense put up a nearly statistical anomaly amount of turnovers to get us to the AFC Championship (Myles Jack wasn’t down btw). 2018 was a blast but Jesus we have suffered. The Gus Bradley era transitioning right into Doug Marrone was just awful.
I think this is the part jags fans keep throwing out there as a “yeah we had that small thing but…” that you can’t grasp no lions fan on here in their lifetime has seen more than 1 playoff win. So you had more playoff wins in 1 season than lions fans have seen in their lifetime. and that was literally 30 years ago. They’d give up a body part to be able to experience that type of season
Would they though? Because it’s not that great when you go immediately back to awful for another decade (I’m just projecting here).
do you remember that hope, fun and joy you had that season not only in the present but for the future of the franchise? they’ve never had a second of that amount of joy and hope in their football lives
Gladly…at least the lions don’t have this drunkard at the helm who is going to take an already abysmal roster and decimate it further by drafting like an idiot and then leaving after year two due to heart issues and four wins total wins. Can’t wait until we draft a RB/WR hybrid at 1.4 and hear about how he’s going to be our Percy Harvin.
Yes. Ramsey has some issues with flat-out speed guys. He’s been smoked by the Tyreeks of the league. Megatron had zero holes in his game. He was the, or always arguably the, best wr in the league for an entire decade.
Urban is aging like an in office president and he's only been with the jags for one season/11 months. He may not go back to college but I think he goes back to TV for good.
He’s still going to be Urban Meyer and colleges will line up to hire him if he becomes available, but I think there is a huge difference between hiring 47 year old Urban Meyer in 2011 and hiring 58 year old Meyer in 2022.
He said he wasn't taking the Alabama job about 2 weeks before taking the Alabama job https://www.espn.com/nfl/news/story?id=2705288
In today’s blowout loss, our second year RB and probably best offensive player fumbled on the first drive because Aaron Donald made an incredible play like he tends to do and manhandled the ball out of his arms. Urban did the Urban thing by benching him for the rest of the half, inserting Carlos Hyde in the backfield, who sucked and was washed up 3 years ago and is now just embarrassing. Robinson was allowed back in the game in the second half, mostly to block. Carlos Hyde then has an egregious fumble and is promptly sent back in the game. The jags lucked into an undrafted running back who rushed for 1000 yards his rookie year and Urban hates him for some reason and is making sure to force him out even though the jags have the worst offensive talent in the league.
