From an LSU mod: *** Starting with the obvious one, Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley, who has plenty of buzz among the fan base. I checked in with a source close to Riley and that source did say it would be surprising to see him jump at LSU. That said, there was a caveat that Riley would certainly have a tough time if it was the "**** you" money that LSU is believed to be offering Riley. I checked with some sources with ties to key OU benefactors and there's some sweating going on in Norman over Riley's future. It's Bedlam Week and the Sooners need a win to advance to the Big 12 title game, which if the Sooners make it to that game, could delay the idea that he is the next LSU coach. Like I said in my prediction piece, Riley makes a ton of sense and there's enough smoke that some believe he's the guy. When making a hire of this magnitude, it's not over until he's at the podium. There are plenty of reasons for him to stay and also plenty to head to Baton Rouge. What we believe we know is Riley hasn't declined the offer from LSU and right now, I'm putting my money on Riley. That all could certainly change...
What's "fuck you money" at this point, Riley is already making almost 8 mil. It's not like he's hideously underpaid, is LSU going to be completely fucking dumb and do like 12+ mil?
Not buying the "Aranda is committed to staying" line before conference championship games are settled
Just a reminder that 20 years ago Steve Spurrier was the highest paid coach in the country and the first ever to make $2 million a year.
I mean look at Matt Nagy’s children getting bullied up in Chicago because of their dad you think that wouldnt happen in Baton Rouge if Aranda sucked?
Pretty much every other name that was mentioned at SC (Franklin, Aranda, Fickell) has been reported to be staying.
Just words right now. Only saying that cuz I want him to come to UF. But if the LSU rumors are true, then I hope he did commit to stay at Baylor and is a man of his word.
That’s what the rumors and reports are saying. But nothing official yet. Aranda’s unlikely. Just hoping.
That school is stupid easy to recruit to. Kids didn’t care that Clay Helton was a dead man walking. Was terrible at developing talent. And didn’t win anything. They still committed because it’s Southern Cal.
the thing people don’t realize about west coast kids is they badly want to stay out west too, just so few top options
Whittingham has to be the best coach in the country of doing more with less. Absolutely hates recruiting and churns out 10 win teams yearly. A&M should be jealous.
So there was chatter on the 24/7 board that Napier and his camp reached out to LSU and they didn’t really reciprocate much interest this week. I’m guessing that means they’ve got their guy or they feel they have time with Napier because Florida won’t get him before they’d call him back?
