Yeah. I think Charles Barkley’s comments have been the most entertaining. “Yoga is just stretching. They call it yoga so they can charge your more.” “Analytics are just to used get someone a job who isn’t good at sports.”
I enjoyed it. The actual golf was stupid and a blowout but a glimpse into the process and a little Phil/Chuck commentary made me like it.
Pretty much want to die after football yesterday but thankfully I have some golf to look forward to. Sweetens tomorrow then leaving Friday to go to Pebble Beach.
Playing in a 4 round pro am that is Poppy Hills, Spanish Bay, Spyglass and Pebble. Last day before we fly out we are playing Cypress Point. I don't have all of our tee times yet but if there is a day with an opening in the morning or afternoon I will shoot my shot and try to play there. Multiple people I've talked to say both courses are unbelievable.
Member has to be with you at Augusta. Member can set you up for Cypress unaccompanied which is pretty wild. We have to tee off before 7:15 and play in less than 4 hours.
Nope, I believe they allow unaccompanied play (now). Not sure if that’s a real thing. You also need to have a tee time that day to buy something from the pro shop. I may or may not know that from personal experience…
This seems a little absurd considering sunrise in Monterey and the fact that the place will be empty, but hey they tell me to jump I’d ask how high
Happy he's able to publicly make those statements. Hope it means he can stay competitive at Augusta for longer since he won't be playing many other events.
yeah I assume his “limited” events at least includes Augusta and maybe the US Open but at a minimum you got to imagine he wants to play Augusta as much as possible
He said he isn't going to play a full PGA Tour schedule... Let's try to see Jay try to tell Cat he can't play the Genesis because he is part of the PGL
One week till my group's Pinehurst trip. Excited! There are 8 of us ranging from scratch to 20+ handicap. We are going to rotate groups every round. Lot of bets, booze and vape pens. Should be a shitshow.
I like Big Randy from an entertainment standpoint but damn, his life story in the Tourist Sauce episode that dropped tonight didn't come across as aspirational to say the least. Bluntly put, he is/was as a dumb, lazy, privileged, white kid who has the worst work ethic possible and lucked into what he has now by riding Soly's coattails.
Saw folks raving about it on twitter so I watched and…came away with the same impression. Like I was waiting for the kicker the entire episode. Have watched a couple eps now though and I do enjoy the Tourist Sauce series. These guys are livin it.
havent watched this season of tourist sauce yet and have played virtually every course. This put me over the edge to start it tonight. Always thought of him that way and want to see him come across poorly
Haven’t watched but surprised by these Randy takes. Seems like most of us…he’s matured and become more self aware.
Same. It was very clear watching he was given every chance to fulfill the older generations ideal life of straight from college to white collar job etc but he didn’t want that life. It’s clear he’s motivated by other things in his life and there’s nothing wrong with that.
I had the opposite experience. We knew they were all extremely privileged (as many in golf are, obviously) but I liked the self awareness of acknowledging that. The rat race isn't for some and he figured out somewhere he didn't have to do that, honestly wish I could do that. What they didn't talk about is that he still uses his accounting degree as his main role with NLU that isn't on camera is CFO of the company and handling all finances.
It’s also clear he likely has political/economic beliefs totally different than what’d you expect from someone with that background. He’s been talking against Late Stage Capitalism for years.
Quick tangent from Big Randy but the pool for next year has just been built. Opening up to the first 20 interested. Same rules as last year, $20 Snake draft. Pick 5 golfers, top 4 count towards total. $400 pool 33 events (No second field events) $5 to weekly winner - $165 $20 for league $215 for final winners 60/30/10 1st - 129 2nd - 64.5 3rd - 21.5
