Anybody else have a dog that moonlights as a scarf? This is a regular deal for Carlos. It’s charming until he’s squirreling all over a nice bourbon.

Gracias. His full name is Carlos Zaragoza and he’s from Casas Grandes. Tom Russell and Joe Ely were heavy in the playlist right before I got him.

    Hey dudes

My parent’s own a beagle and a lab. They just determined that what they thought was an infection is actually terminal prostate cancer in the beagle. He still loves going on their walks but in his condition he can’t finish them and has to be carried part of the way. I imagine at some point he will need to be carried most of the way. Because of this I have now been going over to my parent’s house to help my dad walk the dogs when I can. All of that to say, does such a thing exist as a harness for a beagle sized dog that you could carry him in like they have for toddlers? Any recommendations?

depends on the dog. I’ve had 2 females and they have both been pretty mellow. My daughter’s female is hyper. My males are really protective. Groot is different than most bulldogs I’ve ever known. He is able to walk about 3 miles 5 days a week.

Man, shit sucks. My 11 year old lab mix, Geno (named after WVU great Geno Smith lol) just died :tebow: he had been sick, my wife came home from running errands to find him. We always described him as a "loveable loser" but he was such a great dog. Feeling real down because I'm only 33 and he was by my side my entire adult life and has been by my side for all those huge moments (meeting my wife, moving, having our son). Currently in the bar toasting to him and crying while typing this up. I'm not big on sharing too much personal stuff, just needed to type this out

It's rough. Walking by his corner he always laid in makes me start tearing up. It's been a rough 2 days. Just thinking about him makes it worse. Think the hardest thing is neither the wife nor I really got a chance to grieve. Had to take him to the funeral home then pick up our son and had to be strong. I worked from home yesterday by myself as wife had to be in office. That was a mistake. Going to do a memorial/funeral when we get him back and hopefully that will help some :tebow:

Sabo is about to turn 10 and his hind legs seem to be giving out. He has to be boosted up onto the bed & into the car and sometimes he falls while walking across the hardwood floor in the kitchen. Can tell his gait is a lot different than what it used to be too :(

We are taking him to the vet tomorrow. I'm really hoping it's just arthritis and he can get on pain meds or something. I've been giving him some joint supplements for about a week so hopefully the combination of both ends up helping him. He's definitely been panting more than normal lately too.

Keep on the joint supplements. Sometimes they take a while before they kick in. Maybe 4 weeks or so.

It might take a few weeks for the joint supplements to really work. My dog has a deformed front leg, a few years ago he was limping bad on it. Started giving him cosequin max and a few weeks later he made pretty major improvements.

Been up since 430a traveling back home today. Got the dogs out of boarding and got home around 4p thinking I'd take a nap. Laid down and the dogs immediately jumped on the bed and started play fighting with each other. I gave up on the nap and got up, and they immediately passed out cold in their spots around the apartment.

Thanks man. It's been a rough 10 days. What I would give to snuggle with him one more time :tebow: Worst is I have 2 more little dogs and when I would let them out, I would have to count how many went out and how many came back in. Now it's down to just 2 : tebow:

Edit. I was doing better til Friday. My therapist recommended setting up a memorial for him to help me with it. My wife set one up and we put his picture with his collar and dog dish on his dog bed. Wife worked late so I picked my 15 month old up from daycare. Let the other 2 dogs out and he ran around to the memorial and sat down and looked at his picture and said dog dog. I just lost it

Thinking Dierks may have a form of lupus, allergies/sickness right now, infection, or developed a skin condition.

He gets a dry nose initially once winter comes. We're now in Denver, meaning there's less humidity than in Wisconsin. Coconut oil/Vitamin E takes care of it.

His nose is having discharge this year, unlike in the previous. No change in appetite or exertion level.

Only happens once winter comes and UV doesn't seem to trigger it. No ulcers, no rashes, no other indications elsewhere.

They put him on carprofen and said to keep giving him the Phycox for his joints and whatnot. I guess like 70ish is normal heart rate and his was 220 when we were in there today. I think some of it was just from being anxious and nervous, but either way he’s also been prescribed some heart meds to help with that. The vet made it sound like it’s not uncommon in senior dogs but I forget the name of the heart condition he mentioned.

Up all night and morning with Dierks. He's turning 9 in February, I thought what the Hell and gave him some of the meat from dinner for a first time two days ago. Hadnt pooped during those two days and is now Diarhea Dan over here. Too afraid to shortly nap out of fear he may have to go out.

Man, that’s the worst. Layla has a very sensitive stomach, too. Kaiser, on the other hand, had a cast iron stomach from his days on the street. He once ate a dead bird on a walk, and Lady Tegg was scared it was going to make him sick. He shat out the feathers like 18 hours later like nothing had happened.

Every 25-30 minutes on the dot for emergency bathroom breaks. He naturally comes to me and lets me know when he has to go outside, it's been easy to catch him in time. Has been going on since 11 last night to present time. Had a window to get some Imodium going.

First and last time he's ever getting table scraps.

For what it’s worth, our vet recommends continuing to feed during diarrhea. Make sure he’s getting lots of water too.

Yup and yup. Open feed time and he's chugging water after each go. I don't think there's anything left for him to stream out.

Either the meat was too high in protein or too fatty.

My younger dog has both mastery of his bladder but still pees a little bit from excitement when I get home from work. I wonder if being a pandemic puppy is why he still does that at 22 months old.
