It doesn't matter if he was 100% at fault or 10% at fault. You can't do what he's very visibly doing on video.
I guess I need to watch the video so I can stop asking questions and stop speaking in hypothetical. But is what he did so bad that he doesn't get a second chance/has his lively hood taken away forever? The initial report of choking her and beating her with a cast is a yes for me.
he is more than welcome to pursue a second chance with a franchise that i don't support the video is not horrible. but its damning as far as what a joke his suspension was and how clear it is that he shouldnt be on this roster. its not even remotely close to ray rice or zac stacy videos
I will say, if it turns out AA is playing 4D chess and feels that he can wait out a soft market for Freddie, bring him to the table for something like a 6/150 with the last year an option, I’ll strictly police anyone talking shit about him ever again.
I’m always pro player and not organizations (especially those corporate owned). If I’m Fred, I walk at that offer. Its disrespectful. It’s less AAV than Goldschmidt got 2 years, and it doesn’t guarantee him the 6th year he wants.
I want the Braves to continue winning championships, and I’ll learn to love whoever does it for them.
I mean the police said he choked her, threw her against the wall, and hit her with his cast. Did you see anything of that in the video? Doesn't mean what he did was right, I'm not defending him, but it's vastly different than the original charges/police witness
He clearly moves her across the room by the neck. Did he throw her against the wall? No. Do I see how a cop might have mistakenly thought she hit the wall under the stairs as he was approaching the open door? Eh, maybe. The arrest report said the cop saw him grabbing her by the neck (not choking btw) and throw her against the wall. Half of that is accurate. The other half isn’t, but may have been a reasonable mistake. But the police report didn’t actually say the cop saw him hit her with the cast. In fact it said they took him into custody without further incident. It said that the hitting with the cast happened in addition to what the officer saw. If you watch the full video shared, his wife told the cops through a translator that he hit her in the hands while she was holding the cellphone with his cast. I think the media reporting made it sound like the imagery you expected was him repeatedly hitting her with the cast pinned against the wall. But that wasn’t in the police report, which I included below. https://www.sandyspringsgapolice.go...005425-marcell-ozuna-domestic-violence-arrest
I know it’s business, but trading Dansby after the Series he had as well as the speech he gave after Game 6 would be some cold ass shit
Heard we were going to move Swanson to 2b so Oz and Ron can both play RF and mess around together all game.
I know I’m often negative. But that’s one of my favorite things on the Braves. I miss seeing them together.
According to CBS sports, the MLB owners voted to trigger a lockout, starting Thursday or tomorrow, whatever.
Black and white photos of Hank will always make me think of Home Run Derby on ESPN Classic. Why is that not a show anymore?!
I just have a hard time believing we’d give Ozuna that money if we knew we couldn’t re-sign Frederick. The only thing I can think is if we were in this “we gotta have a bat to protect the middle of the lineup and we can overpay and figure it out later” but that just feels very un-AA-like.
Why would you walk if it's the highest offer? I think everyone is assuming we've low balled the guy, when there is a very good chance we are bidding against ourselves right now. We've already made him an offer with more aav than goldy.
When money is no longer an issue (and let’s face it, it’s not really for Fred), respect and appreciation mean a whole lot.
I'm not sure how we've gotten to the point where making a guy the highest paid first basemen in history is disrespectful.
Until someone makes him a huge offer and we have to beat it, here's what we are working with.. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/contracts/1st-base/ I mean fuck, Jose Abreu signed at Freddie's age and got 3/50.
He’s not just a guy. He’s the guy who agreed to be the face of your franchise during a sell off and rebuild. He’s the guy who has played almost every day for you during a time when he had a bunch of scrubs with him. He’s the guy who never once complained about any of this. He’s the guy who won an MVP on the way to the NLCS. He’s the guy who led the rebuild back to the WS. And at 6/$150 with an option as the last year, which was the offer I was responding to, he wouldn’t be the highest AAV paid first baseman. But I guess if the corporate overlords can make more money to pay off the debt they owe for construction loans, that’s all that matters.
It's already been reported that he's turned down 5/135. Which would be highest. Bidding against yourself isn't a thing anyone does in any sport. I'm not sure why you'd get mad at the Braves for making him the best offer. If someone gives him more and we don't match or beat it, then there's a problem.
So? The post that you quoted was discussing the 6/$150m including an option for the last year that was proposed.
And I'm dealing in reality where we've already made a real offer that makes him highest paid first basemen ever.
You asked why I thought that the hypothetical was disrespectful, so I answered. But I have no interest in going back and forth on this. Congrats on dealing in reality.
At this point, Freddie is only the face of the franchise to Cobb County CACs. This is Acuña’s team, brother.
I love Freddie and want to sign him. I'm just somewhere in between Tobias that claims to have seen him kick a dog and Drown ‘Em that thinks we should give him 15/600 million.
