McFadden was not a candidate in 2003, he was a candidate in 2004. That year Larry Fitzgerald came in 2nd and his numbers were ridiculous, but a WR who does not return kicks has no shot at winning the award.
Well, he didn’t get to Tech until 2004 so you’ll need another excuse for the 2003 game. And he went for a whopping 4/66/1 in 2005, so you probably could’ve found a better excuse for that one too
This anecdote and anything that supports SEC football is “just different”, are almost assuredly signs of mental illness.
I know a guy that met his older brother later in life that shares the same dad. He named his first son with 1 woman Michael. And his second son years later with another woman also Michael. So this guy and his half brother both have the exact same name.
You never realize how weird a fan base is until their program crumbles. Even as a texas fan i didn’t know they were that bad. Y’all can make fun of Texas fans for being spoiled and entitled but ou fans are legit A&M fans that have won something
It’s better to become apathetic like texas and usc fans have than to go balls to the wall mental breakdown when your program goes to hell
If that was the motivation, that was a dumb move. It’s easier to get discovered as an Oklahoma 9 than an LA 4. It’s about prominence, not elevation.
Corby explained it the other day that OU fans are being exceptionally weird about it because it's been since 1947 since they last had a coach leave them for another school, but that's not unique to OU. We're not a blue blood program and it's only happened once in modern history to us - in 1961. If I cared to go down a wikipedia rabbit hole I could probably come up with 20 programs who haven't had it happen in at least 50 years.
I'm just happy we have fired our last two coaches for performance issues rather than what happened with the two before that
