Again, history has told us that it'll get negotiated before an actual service disruption tomorrow night but....just in case I wake up on Saturday and need to switch until they get it figured out I checked out the current free trials. Hulu Live: 7 day free trial then $65/mo FuboTV: 14 day free trial then $70/mo It looks like those will be the best 2 options. The other replacement options like DirectTV Stream, Sling, Disney+, and philo either don't offer any free trial and/or don't replace similarly like no locals/network, or no ESPN.
Fubo is great if you don't care about the NBA or your local teams. Absence of TNT and TBS is basically my only complaint. If you have an AMEX or Chase card they have some good deals.
Haven’t checked this thread in a while. What streaming service do I need to switch to in the meantime? Maybe a free trial until YouTube (hopefully) gets their shit together.
I won't change right away but if this goes on for more than a week or 2 then I'm out. Can't be having to find a stream for the cfb playoffs.
Is DTV the only option that includes Bally? The Braves were the only thing I couldn’t get with yttv. This is annoying af, btw
RSN's are so outdated. There needs to be a reckoning here. I live in Arizona and it's, theoretically, easier for me to watch the Yankees and Rangers than someone living in the local market dealing with providers fighting over channels.
Didn't YTTV go down with both Roku and RSNs in recent memory? Feels like history has told us they are actually willing to go down with these things. Kudos for the price drop though, think that's a strong move. Also $15 shows just how much the Disney properties are worth to them.
I’m gonna lose it if Disney gets added back in a week and the price skyrockets. Is it true Disney owns the majority of hulu?
I already have ESPN+ for soccer purposes. I assume I can watch bowl games on it as well so I’m good I think
ESPN TV content isn't part of ESPN+. You'd still have to have an eligible TV subscription to see the ESPN TV content in the app.
My father in law has the direct stream or w.e att calls it now. It seems ok and has all the channels. I guess I'll be switching to that.
Damn. We have disney+ so my kids can still watch bluey for the 8,836,234 time, but I want my bowls We had hulu live, but switched beacuse the interface is awful and we can split YTTV with people so it's cheaper is this really gonna drag? If so, might try comcast streaming so I can get Bally stations
That sucks. Gonna check around with Sling. Every one of these companies would be smart to give a one week trial. Sling didn’t have as many channels. YTTV is best for value but these threats and losing channels is garbage.
I am just gonna go back to cable or satellite at this point. Tired of this shit. Excited to explain to my kid why he can't watch Spidey today.
If the mouse is your thing, time to move to Hulu since that’s going to guarantee the mouse over all. this stuff only happens with YTTV. Haven’t heard about ballys or nbc dropping from Hulu or these stupid disputes.
My point was Google is always in these dumb disputes. It’s exhausting. lose Disney and might as well get sling instead.
when we had Hulu, they were not showing NBC due to a dispute. They worked it out a few months later. Hulu, along with all of the streaming companies, got into it with Bally (Bally is at fault) and dropped it. Hulu also didn’t have paramount or discovery for a while. Don’t remember which
Ok. So who do I need to pay a small premium to not have to stress every month about losing channels. I only need cnbc, espn, acc network and tlc. I’m willing to pay to avoid the threat of the melty every month.
For the YTTV refugees, I’m still happy with Sling and get ESPN and Redzone among others for $50/month
Here in KC, Google Fiber offered a cable service too which was the GOAT. It was like $100 a month for internet + cable with unlimited DVR, etc. Once they got YTTV going they started raising rates and eventually directing people to sign up for YTTV instead. Now, they just won't do installs and only support existing customers, so when I moved, I couldn't get it any more. YTTV was a fine sub, but now this is happening. If you are telling customers of an existing superior product to move over to one of your other inferior products but still have the same features, fucking make sure those features still exist.
I didn’t watch a single reds game on television at home this year. I live within walking distance from the stadium
I’ve been pretty adamant about keeping YTTV because I let my mom use my password to save her some money. She lives about 20 miles from me and we haven’t had a single issue with them noticing/blacking stuff out. Is there another service that will allow us to do the same thing? I’d also like for YTTV to figure their shit out so I don’t have to teach my mom who survived a stroke how to use another version of “Mickey mouse cable”
Same. I have an ESPN+ subscription through Disney Plus that should be able to fill in the gaps. They usually get these things negotiated. I’ll give it a week. It was annoying to lose service in the middle of the JMU game last night. I’m mostly annoyed that they always try to leverage us and involve us in their PR campaign every time. Like I’m supposed to call up Disney or YouTube on your behalf? Fuck off, I don’t work for you.
DirectTV has a satellite package that costs $15 more a month than the full YTTV package and will include the RSNs. I may just pull the trigger on that.
I also cannot cancel because of this. My MIL uses our login and if she can’t watch CNN anymore her brain will melt.
you won't be able to watch anything on espn, espn2, abc, etc. with just espn+. you'll need another cable log in for those edit: at least that's how it is for me. i just tested espn stream and it was blacked out because i had logged into the espn app with yttv. fortunately, i have my parents log in for att u-verse that should get me through this
