Both teams have a shot at redemption, in the tournament and against each other. Wisconsin was the runner up in 2019, and fell short in the Final Four as the #1 seed in 2020. Wisconsin is looking for their first Championship title after coming close numerous times under Kelly Sheffield. Nebraska, the Alabama of women's volleyball, is led by legendary coach John Cook. Nebraska has dropped 7 straight sets vs Wisconsin and is looking to exercise some demons. They were the runner up in 2018 vs. Stanford and are looking for their first Championship title since 2017.
but srsly this seems like wisky’s year with all those stupid tall super seniors. nebraska should own the immediate future with all their freshmen on the floor
Wisconsin knocked off undefeated Louisville 3-2 last night. It was an instant classic with the feeling of a national championship match. The 5th set is worth the watch. Nebraska, who started the year with injuries, has overcome adversity and is led by a stellar group of underclasswomen. They've ran the gauntlet by knocking off the 2nd and 3rd seed and are looking to knock off the 4th seed Badgers.
3 major contributors are true freshmen who have played their best volleyball in the tournament. Started the year off bumpy by husk vball standards but have really stepped up.
Wisconsin's team is filled with ogres by the way. Anna Smrek (Shrek) is goddamn 6-9. Rettke is 6-8 and Wohlert is 6-7.
Your freshmen coupled with your incoming classes will be an unstoppable force through the next few years.
If you're brushing off watching because it's women's volleyball, I implore you to watch. Women's volleyball is the real deal.
Nebraska should start out with a 1-0 set lead just based on how much better looking our ladies are. Many people are examining this match closely and saying "gbr"
In the spirit of supporting women's sports I'll be going to a WBB game here in a couple hours Hooray for being able to post about women's sports without getting made fun of!
I have more anxiety watching Husker volleyball than any other sport. Not because I care about it the most, but because of the fast paced constant back and forth. Also the fact it's the only sport we are good at.
Wisconsin is probably and should be the betting favorite this game but the wildcard is you know John Cook is gonna have the best possible game plan. If Wisconsin wins, therefore beating us 3x this year then hats off to them.
of all the shit tv and espn try to shove down our throats women’s volleyball seems like it could be a sleeping giant. Crazy athletes, fast paced, pro-longed periods of action with less stoppage compared to a lot of sports, etc. It seems like the natural sport to really give women their platform but the obstacles of the corporate world seem to avoid giving it a chance.
Because we all already follow Kayla’s IG. Who needs spandex when that’s nothing but barely there bikinis.
Two of the best liberos in the country, All-American setters and middle-blockers, freshmen phenoms, national players of the year, the only five time AVCA First Team All-American in sport history Should be a good one
#Nebraska Cornhuskers #Wisconsin Badgers a lot of very talented and coincidentally attractive players
You take away Giannis and Lopez and the Wisconsin volleyball team is larger than any other team in Wisconsin including the Packers and the Badger football team.
