People make think I’m crazy, but I also think I enjoyed Far From Home more, if only because Mysterio is one of the best villains the MCU has created yet.
my version of hell. I can’t do a midnight release after endgame, missed like 20% of the dialogue to people just clapping and screaming like we were at a sporting event
Spoiler end credit scene of Venom conveniently transports Brock to the Tom Holland-verse in front of a TV right as the JJJ Daily Bugle video about the identity of Spider Man airs. Venom takes over and basically says he feels a connection to “that guy”
Spoiler And that’s 100% an Amy Pascal decision. Feige wants nothing to do with the Sonyverse, but had to relent during negotiations
lol, forgot to mention that upon exiting the theater, some troll loudly exclaimed Spoiler "I can’t believe Green Goblin killed Spider-Man!" this was followed by an incredulous "what the fuck?" from someone walking in. I was entertained because I knew they'd be upset when Toby got stabbed.
liked it but not as much as some of you saying it's ragnarok/winter solider tier. i saw those posts before seeing it so i sort of set myself up for disappointment i guess. some rambling thoughts: Spoiler - i wish i had avoided spoilers for the timeline convergence in this movie. it was awesome seeing these villains come into the movie - and, obviously, seeing the spidermen - but i knew it was going to happen and that dampened some of the fun. i'm envious of people (mostly kids, i guess) who don't know that's coming. - the multiple spidermen was the best part of the film. but i never saw the garfield movies (he was great, though) and it's been 20 years since I've seen the tobey mcguire ones. i had trouble remember which villain goes with which and had to rely on my memory of the animated tv show from when i was a kid as to their stories. - the jokes involving the multi-verse characters (the spidermen web shooters, the villains falling into chemicals, etc) all sort of hit with me. the last act post-condo was very good. - i think where i differ from y'all is i didn't think the aunt may scene was very powerful. probably because i thought the conceit of the movie was a little out there; i've just watched an entire tv series and series of movies about messing with time and not doing it. don't do it! just send people back to their timelines! i found myself rooting for Dr Strange so that just took me out of the film a bit. - separately, what was with spiderman having control when out of his body? i wonder if they'll expand on that. - this feels like sort of a reboot of the spiderman series. he's finally going to live in nyc! he's not attached to his high school anymore! feels like a big deal. sort of hope he gets into MJ's life again because i'm a romantic, though. - bummer for ned. would be the ultimate man in the chair being able to teleport spiderman to/from places. curious if he'll factor into the universe in some respect given his 1) newfound abilities but also 2) the lack of connection to dr strange anymore. - my favorite line of the movie was at the beginning when talking about MIT and holland talking about being spiderman in boston. "There's crime in Boston!" "Yeah, wicked crime!" I was the only person in the theater who laughed. - i don't understand the venom thing at all. haven't seen venom 2 so maybe that explains it but i hope there is some clarity soon. - it had been 2+ years since i had been in a theater and i forgot what that experience was like. the lighting in my theater on the screen felt underpowered and i thought the cheering and clapping was awkward given the 75% open seats. also, the guy in my row got up 4 times during the movie and that was obnoxious. if you have IBS or some sort of issue, just sit on the end, bro. also, edit with a couple more: Spoiler - i think one reason i didn't love the condo scene/aunt may is because i didn't understand how spiderman got completely beat up by the goblin. is he super-enhanced like spiderman? i can't remember. but that sort of took me out and then aunt may obviously dies right after. - william dafoe as an actor was incredible. also, really liked jamie foxx though i hadn't seen the original charcter for him. - doc ock as a character was similarly great - never watched the daredevil show but i thought his short cameo was cool.
Unless I’m quite mistaken…. Spoiler Entire thread needs shut down because not a single soul has mentioned….the STRANGER SUPREME!!! Evil What If Strange enters the chat!!! Hell, made me not even care that Kang was the one doing the talking
Spoiler Hope not because I want to see how Feige perfectly replaces dumb, abused, brave, jock with smart, neglected, preppy, wimp.
Spoiler I really hope Daredevil is a full fledged Avenger when Avengers 5 comes out. Or becomes one in that movie
Spoiler My kid let out an audible squeal at that. He was pretty pissed Miles and Peter Porker didn’t show up to help.
I was a senior. Remember seeing it with my best friend. Went on a double date, the Kiersten Dunst rain/nips scene ensued, we were sitting B-G-G-B, he leaned over, “Dude, Nippies!!!”, :fistbump:, girls relinquished hand holding post haste.
DirtBall spoiler Spoiler My response Spoiler I was 20 when Spider-Man came out. Was 22 when Spider-Man 2 came out and went with my parents. They ended up dropping me off at a perfect kegger and combined with seeing Spider-Man 2 that day, is a day I’ll take with me forever. Met my future wife at that party but our 2nd date wasn’t until 2007 and Spider-Man 3
Big picture MCU question... Spoiler How does this fit in with the Loki show? Is there a difference between the multiverse and the branched realities of the sacred timeline where one doesn't really have to do with the other? I really don't care that much at this point because I enjoyed the hell out of both of them. Just curious what we're looking at moving forward, especially after the Loki show seemed to be such a game changer for the future MCU stuff with Kang.
Spoiler Is still my favorite Marvel show including the Disney+ shows. Really enjoyed the grittiness and especially the fight scenes. Really hope he's more involved in stuff going forward.
Even though there was no answer, I'm glad the question was finally raised: Spoiler Can Spiderman shot web through his own dick?
Big fan of Hawkeye paying homage to not only hallway fights but also, make the star put on a mask before an insane fight:
Spoiler Went last night without my kid since he had friends over and is going Sunday. Currently making him watch this.
Spoiler I liked that Garfield finally admitted that Spidey pulls his punches. And quit out of rage.[/spolier]
While I can enjoy the Hawkeye show for what it is. I really wouldve loved a gritty DD like season, when he was Ronin before they moved onto Kate Bishop.
this latest outbreak is going to hurt the numbers I think unfortunately, but this movie is still going to be huge.
Spoiler Strange said “This shouldn’t even be possible” so I think events in Loki are what preceded this and made it possible
Spoiler That was absolutely perfect, loved every second of it. Instantly goes into the elite-tier of Marvel. The Three Pete bit of the movie is on the Act 3 of End Game tier of Marvel sequences for me. Was SO fucking happy to see Toby, but I think Andrew Garfield's Pete was my favorite part of the movie. I never had a huge connection to his Spider-man films (because they weren't that great, through no fault of his own) but it felt like such a cathartic moment for him as an actor and for his character. Teared up a little when he saved MJ. He's a such a charismatic performer, and his films were really a disservice to his talent. So glad he got to redeem it. "You're amazing" RIP Aunt May. Marisa Tomei is a queen, and I'm gonna miss her in the MCU The Chemistry between Holland, Zendaya, and kid who plays Ned is so good. Was devastated at the end when they didn't remember Peter, and I really hope that Marvel and Sony can work something out so we get a satisfying resolution to that storyline. But narratively it was a really good place to leave things. Peter has to go back to his roots and DIY everything without Stark-tech backing. Kind of a throwback to the Toby films. Was really cool seeing Molina and Willem Dafoe again. They were perfectly cast the first time around, and it held up. Didn't really care about the rest of them tbh, but the multiverse stuff was all really well executed. Can't wait to see it again
Spoiler Where’d you find that? It looks like Peacock is holding all the old Spidey movies hostage right now
Spoiler And in the final battle you could hear him hitting harder then the previous fight. Also at one point after he punched him he shook his hand because he’d never hit that hard before.
Spoiler With all the amazing stuff that happened in that movie, Zendaya was fantastic and really made the end hurt more. Ned I can do without and I was fine with.
